I searched but did find the answer I was looking for. Is there a Transmission cooler design that is better than the other i.e. tube and fin vs, plate and fin? I am looking to buy one and I can't afford the TRD one. Thoughts? What are you guys with transmission coolers running?

I bought a universal tranny cooler at NAPA. From what i understand is that they are all pretty much the same except for size. They range in size according to how much you plan to pull. I got one rated for way more than I would ever pull. It doesn't hurt to go with something bigger, you just have to put a little more fluid in to get your level right.

Hayden Cooler from Kragen is what i am using. if your buying a TRD cooler it pretty much paying for a Hayden Cool with TRD stuck on it.

Actually it can if you have one that is so big that it over cools the fluid and it never gets up to operating temp, but one from Napa is what I am looking at. It is for SUV's that tow up to 5000 lbs. I'm guessing that would be sufficient. I don't tow real heavy loads all that often, but I want to have it for piece of mind. I can't afford a $2500 transmission.
So is there no difference performance wise between tube and fin vs. plate and fin?

True...down here in Mississippi we rarely have to worry about things not getting up to temp. I Don't really know which is better between tube and fin vs. plate and fin. I'm using the tube and fin.
