Transmission Flush using 10 min youtube "Carreality" Method

i have been searching & reading up on the various transmission fuid changing methods. I am leaning towards the method that many have posted about and referencing the "10 min. Youtube" instructional video by "Carreality".

My main question is for anyone that has tried this...can you verify the "supply" line running to the cooler? Also, where did you disconnect & how did you tie-in to the existing line.

My attached pictures shows the line that I think is the "supply" line feeding the cooler.

Any additional info on how to disconnect & temporaily attach to the line would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Please don't turn this thread into about which method is better, there are enough threads already covering the pros/cons of each.

What year/trim 4Runner are you trying to flush? This method is very good for non-sealed transmissions as it will be easy to top them off when complete.

But most of the 4th Gen's ustilize a sealed unit that is finicky to being under filled and over filled. These have an overly pointless and complicated process for checking fluid level and will be difficult to accurately fill via this method.

I checked the repair manual and didn't really find any indication of which line to the trans cooler is outflow and which is inflow. But you could easily go to a parts store and get some extra tubing and some double ended fittings to make long hoses, and just crank the vehicle over a little to see which is outflow and which is inflow.

What year/trim 4Runner are you trying to flush? This method is very good for non-sealed transmissions as it will be easy to top them off when complete.

An '04 SR5. Has a dipstick so non-sealed.

Yeah, I'd just get some tube of the same diameter, maybe a foot or two and some double ended fittings so you can just dump both tubes into a bucket. Crank the engine over or idle it briefly and see which one squirts trans fluid out.

Type IV ATF for that trans, just in case you didn't know.

I did this method. The hose itself is the return line and the one on the radiator is where I feed the new fluid. I just start it for a few seconds until you filled a just with 2 qts of old oil and refill 2 quarts with new oil. do this multiple times until red atf comes out.
