I took my 2010 Trail to the dealership today for an oil change and the much discussed DS propeller repair to stop the bump when braking. I also have the issue of a bump/delay when going from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 1st shifting. I handed them the TSB for the DS propeller repair. First got a call saying they couldn't do the repair under the TSB since I'm out of warranty (but I do have an extended drive-train warranty). Also found out that my transmission mount is collapsed. They quoted me roughly $270 to replace it. I never dealt with a transmission mount before...but from my limited research, it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to do myself. So I told the service guy that I would think it over and just do the oil change for now.
I get a call 15 minutes later saying that he is going to try to replace the entire driveshaft and the transmission mount under my extended drivetrain warranty given my complaints of the brake bump/ 1st-2nd gear bump, he just needs to get authorization first. Could it be possible that the DS bump/clunk caused the transmission mount to collapse? I think that's the way the service manager is trying to get it authorized.
In the event that he can't get the repair authorized, how hard is it to replace a transmission mount? A bracket that holds the transmission secure doesn't seem to difficult....
