Hello,
I did a search and didn't really see a lot of info on a transmission service before the 100k mile interval.
Here is the background. I purchased this 2010 4Runner LTD 4x4 a few months ago and it had 67k miles on it. Here is the service performed at 62k miles: (Sept 2012) front rear differential fluid changed, transfer fluid changed, oil changed.
I'm going to take it into my local Toyota dealer service dept for the 70k mile service.
1) Should I have them do the normal 70k mile items plus a transmission service?
2) Should I request the transmission service or just go based on inspection condition?
3) For the transmission service is there a filter to change?
4) Should I request a fluid flush or fluid exchange?
The previous owner drove about 25k highway miles a year and had it routinely serviced at a Toyota dealer so my dealer should be able to look up the history in their database. From what I can tell the 4Runner has never towed and it didn't have cross bars so it probably didn't have a car top carrier. I can tell he probably didn't tow because there isn't any scratches in the trailer hitch receiver and there is still grease in the plug.
