Trash bag/container?

I always see these trail trash bags hanging off the back of peoples trucks empty.

How much trash do people really expect to have?

I guess if I was doing a 5 days trip in the wilderness but if you are camping near civilization then I don't think those bags are needed.

Use mine all the time and it's never empty. See trash on the trail? Stop and put it in the Trasharoo. Get to a campsite and there's trash left behind by the previous occupants? Put it in the Trasharoo. Camping last weekend and three of us had them. We left with them almost full of our own trash and trash from others. I'd also much rather have my empty beer cans outside the truck than inside stinking it up - especially if I get pulled over.

I did some searching but did not find this discussed (although I imagine it has been). Where are y'all (5th gen owners) keeping a trash bag or container? I tried hanging one from the passenger's HVAC control, but that does not really work. Looking for something clean looking...maybe something that fits in door pocket? Or better hanging spot?

Wasn't even looking for a trash bin, just happen to see it walking down an isle and bought it on impulse

I like it because it collapses down to a flat disc and I can just toss it in the pocket behind one of the front seats when not in use. Only really use it on road trips.

Trasharoo sounds so posh, you are such a "glamper", been using the good old drawstring glad bags pulled from home forever. :nod:

Trasharoo doesn't get torn up when it's hanging off your spare tire. I put a garbage bag inside it though so I'm not constantly having to clean it out. No name garbage bags that you tie in a knot to close and don't have fancy drawstrings :roll:

Anything I hang off my spare would get torn off since its under my truck! No drawstrings? I mean seriously I have standards. (Not to be confused with the McD bag for inside trash, haha)

I just stick it all down my pants. Comes in handy if I have to take an emergency poo (Burger King bags are great toilet paper) and I am doing my part towards recycling. Win-Win.

For long trips I use a Litter Chute by Case Logic...I also use it as a dump pouch for stock class paintball. They're hard to find now, but since they're very similar to military style dump pouches, I just use one of those with a piece of paracord around the molle straps.

Most trips I just use the map pockets in the doors.

A lot of people say to throw the trash out when you stop. But it's gotta go somewhere during the interim time between stops. Or you could just hold that snotty napkin for another 150 miles or put it on the next seat and get the whole car dirty. I currently use a small plastic grocery bag of the kind you get from a convenience store and hang it on the gear shifter. When I get home, I throw everything in the trash, which I put in a rented bin in front of my house. Once a week, a driver from Garbage Bin Rental Toronto comes to collect and recycle what can be recycled.

j/k I usually just use the bag stuff comes in (i.e. grocery bag, potato chips bag, ect.) or my weathertech mat until I hit a rest stop.

Just did 4000+ mile trip thru the SW and that's what we did (the bag, NOT the mat!)

I found a small bag that wraps around and velcros two straps around a headrest. The headrest can still be positioned all the way down with no interference. I keep it hanging over the rear the passenger seat. It has a cover that velcros shut as well. It was cheap and is showing wear. I need to find another like it.

Yeah, I do this same thing, particularly useful for picnic type outings where you are working/eating out of the back of the 4runner. Nice to stash some trash at the end of the outing in there and deal with it later. I'd prefer a better method while driving than what I do now, but its just plop stuff in the doors...

I take a take-out soda cup with the flimsy cover, make the straw opening a bit larger. Stick small stuff in there, like gum wrappers, gum, etc, use the opening to just push stuff in. Once it's full, then just throw the cup away.

We got a little garbage can that fits in the console of our 2011 SR5 from AutoZone... Works great. Trash bag liners from Walmart.
