TRD CAi opinion

I bought it for looks here in the classifieds. My opinion is it does sound better and cleans up the look of the engine bay. Install on a 2016 was relatively easy. The Toyota clips you have to undo are the hardest part. On a good note, they tell you to dissect and free up the MAF wires so that they reach the new location on the CAi, you don’t have to do that much to make it reach, you can run the wire over the top of the air tube instead of the bottom. One important thing Toyota should make is a MAF sensor relocation wire, like an extension cord to make the install much quicker.

I dont get how the CAI works. I have CAI intakes on my other cars, but they’re pretty obvious with a bigger filter and relocation to an area with less heat/more air. The TRD one looks like a fancy stock airbox. How is it improving air temps and efficiency?

Not being a smart ass - I really dont know the differences on stock v trd.

I knew posting about a CAi......

How often are you showing people your engine compartment?
I knew posting could lead to this, I have a bunch of vehicles, from a 68 Camaro resto mod to a Lifted Titan show vehicle. My wife and all my kids are into cars, so for me I don't drink or smoke....I like putting stuff on my car. Its for me not to show anyone.

I've got it in my 4R, the main air intake tube past the filter is a totally different size and shape versus the stock tube.

I definitely noticed a difference in noise. I think it feels slightly more powerful, but that could just be associated with the noise. I did notice a slight uptick in MPG.

Yeah, but does it look better :focus:

That's the Million $$ question here.

expensive and purdy noise makers.......

If you like the sound of bees in the cabin at WOT, then an aftermarket CAI is for you.
