TRD Intake available now!

That chart has no relation to the Toyota published specs of the stock 4R motor. Not surprised.
"270 hp @ 5600 rpm; 278 lb.-ft. @ 4400 rpm"

True unless they are showing wheel Hp instead of crank HP in that case I can see these numbers being true? But the rpm range is off? Who knows what vehicle this chart is for.

Sheesh, he's right. It's no current 4.0 that I can find.

Sorry, my bad for posting that without reading it more carefully.

OK, I admit to being skeptical, but TRD backs it up. Looks like ~10hp and ~20 ftlbs from 2600 - 5000 rpm.

V. interested to hear some first hand results.
Not sure where you got that chart Phil but I don't think it's for the dual vvt-i 4.0L version of the 1GR-FE engine. I think that's for a much earlier version. Any who, I only wish it would gain that much HP and torque. On the other forum it's been stated that they don't have the stats out yet and they are a TRD vendor and have contacted main TRD trying to find out for people. If the rumors are true that it's made by K&N then they will probably come out with some over the top BS Dyno runs.
So $40 per 1 horse power increase.....how is that value for those who do performance mods?

I wish I could buy hp at a rate of $40 per hp and the engine still be under factory warranty. The reality is the OEM CAI is very very good and hard to improve upon. Be lucky to gain a hp or 2 with smoothing out the inside contour for smoother airflow and eliminating the 2 sound baffles. I'm sure they will have some charts/numbers come out stating a bogus HP and torque increase. It's pretty easy to skew Dyno sheets a few Hp from one run to the other depending on the available air density involved at the time of each run.

IMO ....In reality ,this is almost a straight up BLING upgrade and does look really sweet and frees up a little under the hood real estate. :naughty:It also will be louder because the sound baffles are eliminated . I'm not expecting to want to take it for some drag runs at the Winter Nationals though after it's on.

Same as you can go to mall and buy a nice $50 watch that keeps time just fine or you can go get a Tag Heuer watch that keeps time 1000th of a second better over a year but sure looks better doing it.
Or the same as spending the extra money on TRD wheels or in my case ,stickers and TRD valve stem caps. They are for the bling factor associated with Toyota Racing Development. To each his own!

Harper.. any pics?

UPS tried to deliver it yesterday but I wasn't home and it needed a direct signature release. I left a signed slip for him today as he didn't come before I left for work. If he doesn't leave it today I'll just have them hold it at the main UPS and I'll go pick it up tomorrow before work.

I'm busy with my kids soccer this weekend but maybe Sunday night. I'll take some pics and maybe a DIY write-up if someone doesn't before then.

I got mine in the mail today. I don't have much free time but will try to get in on this weekend even if I have to wake up at 6am to do it! Will post pics and impressions as well.

Fed Ex tried to deliver mine today but it needed a signature I signed it hopefully they will leave it but as the Military has it they decided it would be good for moral if we all work 12 hours shifts for the next 16 days so I might not get to install it right away. Okay sorry off topic rant over lol.

subscribed for updates.

I'm down for the group buy pending impressions (MPG, sound, and performance). I've got the K&N filter in now.

Can anyone verify if this will fit the 2011? I remember a write up on the K&N unit not being a perfect fit for the 2011 and I don't trust eBay claims as to what it will fit.

Thanks.

For exhaust get a Borla or Magnaflow muffler and have a local exhust place weld up some piping and save a couple hundred instead of waiting for a overpriced TRD exhaust which I think uses a Borla muffler.
