Trd owners impressions

For those who already have had their Trd's for awhile, what are your impressions? Real gas mileage, On road handling (control, cornering, excessive nose dive)? Have you taken off-road. How does it perform? Thoughts as an every day driver. Feel free to post pictures, never can get enough of them?

I've only had mine a couple days, but on-road driving impressions so far compared to my 2010 LE are that it is definitely more truck like in that the suspension is a bit bouncier. This is not a bad thing, just a bit different. No excessive nose dive and stays relatively flat in corners. I'm using as my daily driver and am very happy (although I have only put about 30 miles on it so far) with it. Also as others have mentioned, braking seems better in the new model. Not sure if that's attributable to different brake lines or what, but braking power feels more immediate.

I put about 100 miles on it now. Handles really good IMO. No noise at all. But the brakes are really quick to engage. Should get used to it fairly quickly. Went out this morning and took some good ole curvy roads, not like the M5 I had but nice and tight. My only close comparison to this TRDP is my wife's 05 T4r limited v8 and my Tahoe. This T4r feels a lot better.

I forget the guy's tag that posted all the professional grade pictures.
He must have 5000 miles on his by now.

You're talking about TRDPRORUNNER. I've got 1400 on mine. So far I have yet to have any complaints about it. Yes, it has some more nose dive than you would normally expect, but it was built for offroading that was expected from the start.

It is a very capable vehicle offroad. I've taken it rock-crawling, lake bed, trails, and I still have yet to be disappointed.

I don't what else to exactly describe about it.

Thank you most of my off-road will be beach. Some dirt roads up state I'm sure it's up to both. I do a lot of urban driving - city bad roads
Last winter 3 blow outs two rims replaced on my car. Done with that. I am hoping its a good daily driver that can deal with my day to day.

I have had mine for about three weeks right now.

Pros: awesome factory suspension, nice interior, awesome wheels & tires, smooth ride on the streets, off-road gizmos

Cons: low on power and high price (paid under 42k)

I haven't had it off road yet, but that is forthcoming.

I agree with SLW that it is indeed low on power. If we were getting a output of at least 300, I believe that it would be a much better rig!

I'm already trying to get more power out of mine, I already have a Magnaflow Catback Exhaust, still waiting on the AFE CAI and then hopefully a TRD SC! "Dreaming"

Price wise yeah it is on the high side, when your comparing it to a Fully Loaded Limited.

But in all honesty, it is a absolutely great vehicle to drive, it handles well, has a very smooth ride absorbs bumps and dips with ease.

This is my DD and my Weekend all in one!

Run the highest octane available and you should be close to 300. It would definitely be better than any of the "Bolt ons" available.

Wow! Just...wow

Reading this thread is just like reading every 5th gen thread all over again. It's like Vuzeaday - I know I have already experienced this already ha ha

Good to hear. The ride, on road, has been described by a number of new owners as very smooth, that is good to hear. One owner on another thread wrote you feel every bump. I have not seen that from anyone else.

No. You are going to pay to hear noise is all.

Again, no.

Higher octane fuel = more power :driving:
No. A gallon of gasoline has an energy density of 44.4 MJ/kg. Octane rating does not change that by magically adding energy to gasoline. Oh, a ham and cheese sandwich is about 1.47 MJ/kg. The more you know...

Yes, yes it is.

OP, I really can't imagine you will get anything resembling a bad experience in this thread. Even if someone did not like something on the TRDpro I doubt they will admit it.

That's crazy. When I dyno'd my 335i on 91 octane I got about 350 whp. I filled up on 100 octane and I got 400 whp with the same mods. I guess it must've been a fluke.

From a quick wiki "A fuel with a higher octane rating is less prone to auto-ignition and can withstand a greater rise in temperature during the compression stroke of an internal combustion engine without auto-igniting, thus allowing more power to be extracted from the Otto-Cycle."

But don't trust me... I didn't know I could consume gasoline and have energy to burn just like this ham sandwich I'm about to eat.

It's not the octane. It's about certain vehicle's ability to change timing depending on knock sensors. I will be glad to explain it to you in a pm if you send me a request, but a gallon of gasoline has "X" energy. Octane is all about giving that fuel the ability to keep the engine from knocking.

The higher octane fuel is harder to ignite than lower octane, your 335i's computer measures this and adjust its maps to produce more power on higher octane based on boost, fuel, timing, etc.

It has everything to do with a forced induction engine, and nothing to do with higher octane gas having more energy in it...
