Came across this when searching for 4runner news. (Pardon me if my Google-fu is off, but I did do a search on the forums to see if this news was anywhere and didn't see it mentioned. )

Haven't looked at that magazine in a long time, but thought it was pretty cool news nonetheless. Love seeing Toyota getting that kind of attention!

The article states

To be eligible to compete, a vehicle must be all-new or have substantial improvements that make it perform significantly different from the previous model year.

So shocks make it perform significantly different from the previous model year? They have been making the same truck for 5+ years now.
