Hey All, I'm ready to change my radio to alpine iLX-207. does anyone have color code for this sparkly black dash trim piece?

That's a Scosche TA2106B, but it's only available in the silver as shown in the top photo. The black is painted. I have two and was planning on finding a body shop to paint match the gloss metal flake black on one, but did my initial install with one I painted with matte black Krylon and it ended looking so good that I haven't bothered to get the other paint matched. I've even started to think the matte is better because it's one less place for the sun to reflect off.

Thanks, After visiting 3-4 body shops and every one of them asking $150-200 to paint it but no one was confident that they can match it. one stereo shop said they can do the custom paint to match and install the new radio.

So I got a deal for $1250 OTD

1.Paint the kit to match the dash
2.Alpine ilx-207 ( Apple car play / android auto radio )
3.Alpine kac-001 ( to turn on/off lights, winch etc from radio screen )
4.Idatalink Maestro Kit
5.Installation / Parts

Personal opinion:- Metra Kit looks better then Scosche kit.

i have both the metra and scosche kits, a few of the scosche kits actually so that i could play around with them.

The scosche kits are much better built compared to the metra kits, the way the radio is supported in the metra kits is WEAK compared to the scosche kit. I'll see if i still have one of the kits around to take pictures. Installed min with the Scosche kit because i wasn't comfortable with the metra mount.

How do you like the ilx-207? I am looking for a CarPlay unit and just returned a pioneer because it was resistive touch.

I have had a lot of audio systems in my vehicles over the years. I had my awesome system takin out of my Tacoma before I traded it in on my 17 Pro. I sold my Pioneer Nex 8200 headunit. I have all my other stuff yet. I done the sound deadening in my Z06 Vette for my audio system also. If I decide down the road to do my Pro i’m keeping the factory headunit in and just having new speakers and a amp. Also a processor to make up for the headunit. If you someone hat know Audio to do the install they can still make it sound good with the factory headunit.

I was pretty excited when I first read about this, but this $1000+ head unit with a 9" screen has a resolution of 800x480, the same as our miserable 6.1" OEM radio. That's pretty bad, even for a screen that's used 100% for Spotify and google maps.

If my 5.25" cell phone screen and 8" tablet can be full 1080p and a 14" laptop screen be 2k, why can't we get at least 1080p on a radio? The only thing I can think is that since it's not a display you're supposed to watch for long periods of time why waste money on resolution? Just like there's no replacement for displacement, there no substitution for resolution!

There's certainly value in high resolution when it comes to maps and displaying information as clear as possible. I mean, maybe a larger low resolution screen is better than a smaller high res screen. I guess I'll save my judgement until I see it in person -- a 9" screen like the Alpine would look nicer than having a whole lot of blank plastic space that results from using the metra/scosche kits.

I have one installed, resolution when using my amazon fire stick is fine. Using Apple CarPlay looks good and the ui is great with everything else. At $850 now so the cost is pretty easy to handle.

I'm thinking about insralling one of these. I'm somewhat of an Android nerd, so it excites me. Compatibility issues with the backup camera and maybe some other oddities, but overall pretty awesome!

Yeah, a well-known local shop. They knew exactly what to do and it's spot-on. $115, done within 24 hours. Couldn't be happier. Kinda forget about it.
