Here is my update from my service visit. The tech was aware of the issue from reading about it online. He test drove it and confirmed the issue. The dealer called toyota and TRD and was told that they are aware of the isolated situation and was looking into it. At this point they couldn't identify the issue and have no recommendations on correcting the clunk.

Tell you what man, when you own one your opinion will matter. Until then? Find a forum for what you own. I'm sure there is a 1984 Oldsmobile forum out there somewhere...
"Helping" your girlfriend buy one does not count nor does riding around in one qualify you to be an expert on ride quality. Quit trolling and move on and let actual owners try to work through this issue.

Warmer weather
I agree with most on here about the warmer weather. Temps here in Massachusetts jumped into the 50's the other day and my clunk all but vanished . Of course it being New England, the weather dropped back into the lower 30's the next day and my truck returned to clunking. I was going to wait for my 5K mile service to have the clunk looked at by my local dealer (almost at 2K now) but now I am worried that it will be warmer by that time and they will say I'm nuts.

Hey...
I don't care what type of 4Runner it is. Don't come to an enthusiast's forum and trash the vehicle, especially if you don't even own one. Some guys are afraid or too PC to speak up. I have no predilection to doing that. Plus some of the more questionable (read "IQ less than 68")) TRD Pro owners have already came here, did their 20 posts and left, leaving the decent guys to hang around and enjoy the place.

Hi I've joined this forum after searching the Internet to try and figure out what the suspension clunk in my brand new trd pro 4Runner is. So I guess I'm not alone. I am surprised that this issue has been around so long with still no fix. This forum is very informative with a little bit of drama from a few guys who were offended by someone who said there girlfriends trdp rides like a pos. I'm pretty sure that's why we are all here because our brand new trucks ride like a pos! Lighten up guys and maybe post something useful like updates or brainstorming. We all came here for help right?

Just got done with a little testing! Removed the skid plate. Clunk still there. Removed the sway bar. Clunk still there. I guess we will have to wait on toyota because Im not really up for digging any further into this thing. By the way temps are back down in the low 30s here in ct.
I wonder if it has to do with the gas pressure in the shocks. According to Charles law the volume of a fixed amount of gas would decrease as temperature decreases which would also make the pressure in a closed system decrease there for the shock could bottom out easier. But I would assume Toyota would have done the math and tested the dampening capabilities in cold weather. I will keep watching my Inferno is set to arrive at port on the 20th.
Have a 2015 Trail and have a shudder clunking sound over smaller bumps but don't think it's the same as the clunk you're seeing on the TRD Pros. I had an alignment problem from the dealership that was only a problem on longer interstate runs so after a few road trips I took it in for an alignment. Alignment is now much better, but now I'm feeling the clunk. Have around 3,500 miles on it.
Have no idea what could have caused the problem with getting an alignment, or whether I'm only noticing it now. Feels like something is loose but can't find anything.
Looking at the original alignment specs the main problem with the previous alignment was having uneven caster with 3.9 on one side and 2.5 on the other. Had them target close to 4.0, based on other comments found here, and the handling is much better. Problem is that now I have the clunking.
Plan to take it back in to see if they left something loose following the alignment.
Stock 2015 Trail Ed with 275/70/17 Cooper AT3s, and without KDSS.

I just wanted to chime in here to offer something more positive. I have yet to have a clunk. I drive down forest type roads heading to the main road out of my house. I have gone over speed hump, bumps, and other obsticals trying to replicate sound. Temperatures have varied in the short time I have had the truck from the mid 80s to teens.
I am all stock suspension except for upgraded trailing arms. I needed to test it out before replacing m upper control arms and leveling up the front to make sure I too did not have the issue. Albiet, it could be there but I just dont have the roght circumstances to replicate the noise. I thought I would throw this out there as I know there are other who also have not had the clunk with the TRD Pro. As even some others have said it may not be trim limited either. I am keeping an eye out on this thread. I hope you have a resolution for you clunks and thuds and also hope that I dont get them! If so then well thanks for paving the way...

I am not sure if they are gas charged shocks or not but if they are it is just a thought.

Update: Toyota has issued a case manager to my case for escalation on 3/12. The FTS report has been confirmed that is has been received by TMC. I also let them know about my communication with the TMC engineer:
He spoke to the person responsible for 4Runners and he confirmed that they have has some claims and have not determined the root cause yet. Apparently the development vehicles did not have the same characteristics and he actually drove one to confirm. He also stated that they are checking to see if it is a supplier manufacturing issue that they are checking in now. Since it is overseas production he did state that the investigations take a bit longer.

I actually sent my contact at TRD an email on the clunk issue 2 days ago with the info that you provided me. Glad to hear it is moving along!

Now that we have a second member (wink,wink) that is disappointed with the ride quality, I'm curious what exactly makes it a pos. Considering it is a factory prepared off-road vehicle, I find it to better than expected.
