Performance update

Went out and played around with the kit on the flats as well as speeding down some bumpy dirt roads on the way back from my photoshoot today... I was very impressed with the suspension and noticed almost no difference between the original and afterward with the kit. I even caught some air when i wasn't expecting it.... it was awesome. I don't have any pictures or video of all that, but here are a few before I dirtied her up....

I know what you mean. As far as this kit goes, definitely glad I jumped on it so fast. If I was reading this thread wondering what to do about lifting my brand new trdpro..... I'd be placing this kit at the very top of my list as well.

Mine is due to be delivered by the end of the day Tuesday, so hopefully I can make the time to get it installed. I'm headed to Mexico for a long awaited beach trip until next week, so hopefully once I return I can get the lift and Spidertax installed then. In the pictures I posted, I didn't have the spidertrax installed. I should be getting them in today, but I may end up no putting them on.... we'll see. Some say it never gave them any problems, other think it's the worst thing you can do.... I don't get it.

I went through just about every comment I could find about them and found the same results. My opinion is they need to be installed correctly, run for a while and then check the torque on them periodically. What sold me on them was the people I saw on here that wheel them all the time with no issues.

Man, thanks for posting those pics, nice looking set up you have there! Your truck is pretty cool to, lol. :hiding:

I plan on putting icon stage 7 with 33's on when my warrenty is up. The trd pro suspension is a lot of fun but icon is at least as good and can be adjusted to handle heavier payload.

Did you get the 8yr/100k warranty like I did? If so, you've got more than a few years. Icon may have a stage 9 by then...

I noticed that my 1st gen Taco has more ground clearance for the most part compared to my 4runner even though tires are smaller. Fuel tank and other components hang lower on the runner. With a front locker I'm sure the Taco and your 3rd gen would be much better rock crawlers. The trd pro 4runner is a MUCH better high speed desert vehicle though.

I've always had a lift on my trucks, and so I decided the trdpro is something I wouldn't have to touch. However went up to a place I always took my other 3rd gen and noticed the bottom scraped a little where my 3rd gen never did...

That's what got me thinking about it. If I install the daystar kit, how will it affect the trd suspension? Has anyone else done this? or is it just foolish? I know there have been a few trd owners who completely removed the trd and went with icon, but Im really trying to see if I can keep the trd and just add those spacers.......Im torn.



Never been out there yet.....Just keep on LV BLVD till the end?

I sure did! Im in no hurry to swap out that pro suspension as long as Toyota pays for it. It's a beast at high speeds in the desert.

Better pics coming later but got these installed today: 255/80R17 BF Goodrich KM2's on a set of 2014 SR5 wheels to run as a second set. No rubbing/scraping either.

Measurements from front right only: Factory original Nitto Terra Grappler (non-G2) 265/70R17 (7 in wide wheel) with 20k mileage:
Height from floor to fender lip - 35 in
Height from floor to center of hub - 14 5/8 in
Tire/wheel off vehicle against wall - 31 5/16 in

New BF Goodrich KM2 with 2014 SR5 wheel 255/80R17 (7 in wide wheel):
Height from floor to fender lip - 36 1/2 in
Height from floor to center of hub - 15 1/4 in
Tire/wheel off vehicle against wall - 33 in

Didn't know about the new toytec option either....

Just found this thread. I have kept all of my TRD components that were an upgrade from the trail. I did replace the OEM Knuckles and UCA for the lift. I will get my money's worth out of the Billies and then get something better when time to replace them.

Interesting note: The elusive TRDP "Clunk" is gone

Replacing the Nfabs if anyone is interested. only 8K on them.

Never had the clunk issue. Didn't even know there was an issue with it. What size tires are those and how is the ride?
