Trd pro lift question

Thanks for the info. The differing reports of "no rubbing", "rubbing" running 285's with the Toytec TRD Pro lift makes me think rubbing most likely would occur in certain situations. After doing more research I'd probably opt for the 34x10.5x17's as you get just about a full 2 inches more in diameter over the stock 265's. Fills out the wheel well more. I like the look of yours.

I'm still debating the lift vice just getting mine leveled -- I really like the stance of these trucks when they're leveled. If I do that I'll keep my stock tires as they have a lot of tread left on them.

I have the Toy-tec lift on my TRDP and did the step by step write up many pages back on this thread, fyi. While it is a noticeable change, it doesn't exactly level the rig out. I see you are in Reston, I work in Ashburn and live in Lovettsville so we are close if you wanted to catch up and see what the end result looks like in person. Just let me know, nothing a quick beer can't solve for you for free. I also have some parts coming up for sale soon like my NFAB bars, stock floor mats etc....hit me up if you like......later.

Within a few hundred miles I had to fix a CV boot, and years later the shocks were done. I replaced them and lowered the suspensions down a notch. What did you folks end up doing with added weight on front/rear (~150lbs front, ~250-400lbs rear)?

I'd like to retain factory shocks, at least for a while (spent too much as it is :dizzy: ). Is an OME885 front spring sufficient for the front? What about the rear?

Kinda at an impasse. On one hand I'd love to get my hands on the 2" Toytec kit, on the other, I know I'll probably need to stiffen up my springs.

Perhaps I'll just simply run: Toytec 2" kit + OME885 front + Superflex HD rear?

i am a year in with no issues to anything. I had a 2011 Tundra with the same clunk and it ended up being the lower ball joint but not lift related.

You would probably not want to go the Toytec 2" kit route AND an OME885 front spring. The toytec kit was designed for the existing TRD Pro front-coilover assembly.

I don't know how the TRD Pro Bilstein shock would work in combination with the OME coil in terms of ride characteristics. Usually the Coil and Shock are selected to work with each other when creating a coil-over setup. You may get some crazy driving reaction mixing the TRD Pro Bilstein shock, the Toytec 2" kit and the OME spring up front for the coil-over combination and may end up hating the ride characteristics it creates.

Just my immediate thoughts. I have the Toytec Kit on the TRD Pro and I am not planning to add extra weight up front for the same reason of not wanting to have to pay for a whole suspension setup to accommodate the extra weight. Maybe when it's paid off I may reconsider.

I initially installed the Toytec 2" spacer kit to my TRD, then I installed a Southern Style Hybrid bumper and Smitty Winch. I probably added 120+ pounds and the change in handling was significant with lots of dive during braking and I lost at least 1" of lift in front. I ordered the Toytec Boss 2.5 Coilover with 650lb springs which leveled out the 4Runner and handled more like stock.

That being said, what you may be after is a big discount. Mine are in the box they were delivered in last week so I'm not going to take too much of a bath on them. So little in fact that I can not justify why you wouldn't buy them new from Toytec. But if I'm wrong and you're just looking to take these off my hands, let me know.

I probably added 120+ pounds and the change in handling was significant with lots of dive during braking and I lost at least 1" of lift in front. I ordered the Toytec Boss 2.5 Coilover with 650lb springs which leveled out the 4Runner and handled more like stock.

I've recently ordered the SSO hybrid bumper and Smittybilt winch as well for my 2015 TRD Pro - and was under the impression that the Toytec TRD Pro kid handled it quite well.

Bummer. I thought I had read that from more than one source.

I thought I had as well. I have the SSO slimline on the way and though I have not picked a winch yet there will be one. @2105Inferno 's experience makes me think I should have just done a traditional lift, which I will likely now do.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking as well.
Which is a bummer, 'cause to get an equivalent kit with remote res costs a pretty penny.
Granted, I knew I was going to upgrade at some point, I just hoped to put it off for a little longer and get by using just some stiffer springs.

Excellent, thanks for sharing! Those are the same upgrades I'm doing and I'm glad I know this ahead of time. Like others, I also read differing opinions, with some saying it's not that bad.

Guess that bumps suspension shopping to the top of the list.

A friend of mine had his 4th Gen lifted there and they did a good job. Also, a buddy that owns a detailing shop in Chantilly told me to avoid them. At least the one in Chantilly.

The kit comprises of front spacers and rear coil springs (2in Superflex, however some run 1.5in SAW for a more leveled look)

Just FYI, the kit is a great upgrade and looks amazing allowing you to run bigger tires like 285/70's for example but if you plan on future upgrades like steel front and rear bumpers, winches etc...You will be completely upgrading your full suspension at some point.

SSO makes fine products! I run there rear bumper and love it....best on the market IMO..I'm speaking of very significant weight in my post coupled w/driving conditions also...makes a big difference

I'm going to install the same setup in my truck and I contacted Toytec already with the same idea of getting stiffer springs. Toytec doesn't sell spring coilover for 2.5 diameter shocks (TRD).

Ideally I'd like to swap in a heavier spring but keep the same lift as stock (for now), so i dont have to mess with the rears.
