Trd pro lift question

That being said, what you may be after is a big discount. Mine are in the box they were delivered in last week so I'm not going to take too much of a bath on them. So little in fact that I can not justify why you wouldn't buy them new from Toytec. But if I'm wrong and you're just looking to take these off my hands, let me know.

Still have these for sale? I might be interested

So, specifically for those TRD PRO owners that have installed the toytec 2" kit along with 285's, now that you have been running this set up for a while how do you like it?

Rubbing?
Balancing issues?
Rake gone?
Ride quality?
Spacer kit in the front and 265's would have done the trick?
You love it and are tickled to death every time you look at it?

Thanks

Rubbing?- No rubbing with moderate off-roading (no rock crawling here).
Balancing issues? -None. Using stock UCA and Nitto 285/70/17 Ridge Grappler's
Rake gone? -No. Using 1.5 SAW rear coils
Ride quality? -Very good, albeit a bit firmer than stock.
You love it and are tickled to death every time you look at it? -Very good value IMO.

Thanks

I've got a SSO hybrid front bumper and Smitty X20 on the way (approx 150lbs total), and once that's installed I'll be contacting Toytec to see if stiffer springs upfront along with stock TRD Pro shocks would do the trick.

So I contacted Wheelers Offroad and asked the same question. They have not heard of this option. I stated I wanted to keep the same shock and stiffen the spring up... They replied with its an awesome shock. Let us know what Toytec says.

I'm going to install the same setup in my truck and I contacted Toytec already with the same idea of getting stiffer springs. Toytec doesn't sell spring coilover for 2.5 diameter shocks (TRD).

I believe we need 3" coilovers like these

King 3.0" ID Springs | Off Road Shocks

But no idea what spring rate or length is need for 2.5 to 3" lift and that can handle the extra 150 lbs from the bumper/winch.

Did you and Capt.Canuck find out more about this? Got my SSO hybrid + winch arriving this weekend. Curious what you two decided to go with.

Long-term I'm thinking of getting the BP51 installed, but for now I'll try to make do with some stiffer springs in front and rear (to account for rear ARB drawers too).

I've yet to put mine on, but will probably do so within the month. Winter here so won't need it until the spring anyway.

Before I make any changes to the suspension I will give the stock setup a try.

Boys,

New here, but not to forums or Toyotas. I have a Cement Pro coming in and building the parts list now. Does anyone have a solution for the rear to be level with the front on the 2" toytec spacer kit?

Id love for it to be as level as possible. Cant stand rake. I won't be hauling much in the rear, so for daily driving a level look is preferable.

I have the kit with the 1.5" SAW's in the rear (since January 2016), still running the stock 265 Nitto's and the rake is definitely there. I have no additional weight in the front or back (i.e. steel bumper, winch etc.).

I was thinking about the same thing (in terms of avoiding the rake). The 1.5" SAW is not as tall perhaps as the 2" Toytec rear springs but the spring rate is different. Something like 12% for the SAW and 10% for the Toytec over the factory rear springs. I believe all T4R models share the same factory rear springs across the 5th Gen line. I still got 2" from the rear and so I think the 2% increase in spring rate over the 2" Toytec AND the lack of added-on weight in the rear still gives 2" on the SAW's for me.

I have tried driving around with sand bags as far back in the trunk as possible while still being able to close the tailgate. Although that resolved the rake look, it drove a bit "floaty" in the front with the tail weight back there. Makes me think a steel, rear bumper would feel the same with the extra weight that far out in back.

So, in answer to your question to avoid rake with the kit I think there are only two ways to go.
1) Consider not getting the rear springs and perhaps work with 1" or 1.5" (if there are such sizes) spacers in the rear on the factory springs? It sounds like you mentioned you would not be hauling much on a regular basis.

2) get larger spacer on the top of the front coil-over and still get the 1.5" rear SAW's. The Toytec kit comes with a 1" lower perch and a 1/2" top spacer. Maybe a 3/4" or 1" (if they exist) top spacer? With this option though you would definitely have to look into an after-market Upper Control Arm.

Toytec might be the better folks to ask, they deal with this stuff every day I am sure. If you do, post up what they say. I would be interested in what you find out as well.

That rake absolutely drives me nuts with the toytec kit and its the only reason why I've been so hesitant on buying the kit. I did a 1 inch spacer from cornfed up front to match the factory rake (still a slight rake) but I've been talking to Dave at cornfed and he says he can make any custom size spacer to accommodate any type of rake. Im looking to order the SAW rear springs, installing them and then taking measurements so that Dave can make me the right size front spacers. All in all, it'll be about the same price as the toytec kit.

little bit amazed by the concerns about having a rake on rigs, especially when I see vehicles with after market roof racks and mods..everyone's use are different but if you plan to level your vehicle and then add weight in the rear..you are going to have a negative rake at some point....that's why these factory rigs have rakes in the first place. not for mods but a load in the rear...not for all but just saying..puzzles me some... but understand..you could always add airbags I guess

Part of my original appeal to the TRD Pro was that the small lift in the front coil-overs leveled the rake a little bit over the factory setup. Then the addition of the Toytec 2" kit (for me at least) seemed to put the original factory rake back. I'm ok with it for now though since I know I can load gear in the back and not squat the back down for a reverse take.

Completely understand and all these builds are cool as hell to see.

I have the TRDP myself and its a shadow from what it was at stock but it suits my needs and I still have mods in the wings. Not bashing anyone at all, everyone has different visions for their rigs. I actually had the Toytec kit on mine a while back but with the superflex coils and it adds a good bit of rake and handled more rear weight than expected loaded down. Actually did a 4k trip with it this past summer and handled quite well. Here is a partially loaded pic on the beach and fully loaded out at camp..fully loaded (at the time probably 600lbs) it sat with a tiny neg rake but hardly noticiable

Whatsup guys, I have a quick question regarding the TRD Pro Toytec 2' lift.

I have a 15' Inferno with 285 Nitto Trail grapplers and was wondering if I got this Toytec lift installed would I be able to fit larger tires ? I was looking to switch to the Ridge grapplers and go up in size if they would fit? Thanks in advance for the help.

Lift doesn't necessarily equate to fitting larger tire size on our trucks. You will likely need a Body Mount Chop and after market UCA's with anything larger than a 285.

Check here...tons of info!

How are people getting the SAW 1.5? I have a TRD Pro on the way in the next week or so and I am looking at the Toytec Kit and getting 285/70/17 tires, but it appears everyone is favored toward the 1.5 inch instead of the 2 inch for the rear. Do I call and request the 1.5 inch instead of the 2? Thanks for all your help!
