I never had any rubbing on 285/70/R17 w/the Toytec kit...the only concern I had at the time on 285/70 was the rim width on TRP rims but for me no worries at all in my experience and many others ...it's a nice stance

Anyone running 285 Cooper Discoverer STT PRO's on their lifted TRD Pro?
Had them on my JK and loved them. I know most people are running 285 KO2's on their lifted Pro's which do not rub or require trimming for the most part but BFG's typically run small and the Copper's are much more aggressive.
My Toytec lift arrives next week and I'm looking at tire options in a 285 but I really don't want to trim or do BMC.

There's a guy that lives down here that has a 2016 TRD Pro.....He had the STT Pro's on his, and ended up switching to K02's due to major rubbing.
But, He did not even try to remove the mud flaps, do any trimming, or push the fender liners forward before switching. Oh, and he was already lifted with an Icon Stage 2 setup.

Thanks for the input. Looking like STT Pro's might not be the best option for me then.

Good catch, I do not have mud flaps and I run General Grabber AT2s and if you do the metric conversion,, I believe around a 32.8in tire.. some manufactures differ slightly when you convert...something to be aware of but I'd be surprised if any issues w/all terrains...K02s are fine for sure

I'm still thinking this would work with 285s. Rear won't be a problem in stock form. I don't think the extra 1" from the Toyec 2" kit make a difference. It looks like a guy on a Toyota FB page has this kit with 285s. I've messaged him for details.

My pros tires
I am running 285s on my 2016 trd pro. They rub, no doubt about it. I did some trimming and have had no problems ON THE ROAD. However, if you wish to use the now larger tires on the trail, you will need to do something.
Because of the extra height already on the TRDPros, it is best to not do a spacer lift, and go with the long travel. I will soon be going Icon on my rig.

Would the lower offset of the 17x8 wheels help or hurt with clearance issues? I want to run the nitro Terra grapplers in 285 but don't want to chop up my bumper. Also if someone could point me in the direction of a post that explains moving the fender liner forward that would be appreciated.He hasn't responded yet but I stole more pics

Ive ran both 285/70/17 Goodyear Duratracs and Nitto Ridge Grapplers. You'll need to remove the mudflaps, trim the bumper and push the fender liner forward. I didn't rub on the body mount until i added 1.5" wheel spacers.

What's done suspension wise to yours?
Just a 1" cornfed front lift spacer, as far as height goes. Icon upper control arms and rear trailing arms.
