TRD Pro Ride

Those that know me probably would think its insane that it took us from May until Thanksgiving to get a new 4x4 off-road, but it did. We slapped some sliders on and did some easy stuff. Capability not being tested in any way except ride. And what a ride! You can blast along as fast as you can go with out flipping over. Ditches, wash outs, bumpy rocks...dont even need to let off the gas. Even whoops you can romp on some. Very fun, just have to get used to the ability. Because of this I plan to do every mod but suspension, and save it for last, after armor, gears, front locker, ect. If the torque and gearing were better....Its no Raptor, but probably the best riding SUV 4x4 ever made :thumb3:

Gears? What do you plan to go with? Is this for crawl purposes or just to get more response from the gas pedal?
How does the PRO feel on the pavement? Supposedly it is smoother than stock due to the Bilstein set up.

Take the money for front locker and gears, and just do a top notch syspension....send the left over dough to me....you obviously have a shit ton to waste

Hate to disappoint - but if armor is the first thing on your list, suspension will need to come second anyway.

Agreed, you can't drop that much weight on your rig and have it perform as well as it does now with stock suspension.

RCI offers aluminum skids that are extremely well made with less weight.

Eventually it will crawl, but for now its more for light duty wheeling, so speed is more important. I dont wheel with out certain things period, and armor has to come first if you want the rig to keep looking good. Sliders were number one for me. I can replace a bumper or bent skid, but a rocker is hard.

I love the stock aluminum skid, and honestly looking at those RCI prices that may be the way to go for the rest. Sure steel would be cheaper, but weight is important and bumpers are going to be heavy, plus a winch....From what I can tell so far this suspension has some capacity. Sure, wont be as fun to blast around in with the weight added, but I bet it can handle it.

As for gears and locker, WAY more performance advantage then a lift in my opinion.

By the way I was running 37s on my 96 Montero with ARB, and got tired of breaking a CV every year, so its getting an old Toyota Solid Axle. Been wheeling CVs and lockers for years. You can make them live awhile if you are careful.
