Verdict: Idiot at parts dept... while I was there, snapped a pic to my KDSS TE vs a non-KDSS SR5 for comparison to those who wish to avoid my scenario. Dealer issuing me a refund on the TRD Pro skid.

Still got to drive home a sweet new '15 T4R TE :banana:

Used the template offered here on my new 2016 TEP and worked perfectly - took less than two hours. I decided to paint over where I cut the aluminum to prevent any discoloration. Holding up perfectly so far.

Getting ready to cut mine, so wanted to get it as close as possible the [MENTION=139345]MtlTRDPro[/MENTION] original template. In Photoshop I squared the pieces of paper for perspective, then set the long edges of the cut to the correct lengths; after doing so, the short edge measured out precisely as indicated on the original. Then went over the cutline in red, and here you have it:

Because it was designed for non-KDSS vehicles, and the mounting points are different for the stock skidplates on each.

no, the mounting points are exactly the same. you're not supposed to remove the bracing because it is integral to the skid, squaring/supporting it against the frame crossmember.

No worries, I took the time, might as well make it available.

Cut mine a few days ago, used MtlTRD's basic template, but adapted it a bit based upon tracing out the stock KDSS skidplate. Wish I had the vehicle in my garage to confirm some things (finally being delivered TOMORROW morning!!!), but I trusted the basic template and many pics posted to the various threads, and I'm sure it will bolt up fine.

Cleaned the cuts up with wire wheel on a Dremel, and finished it off with some Rustoleum Textured Metallic (sprayed into cup), and done deal. I'll post a pic of the installed product on my TRD Trail tomorrow.

Then why do the aftermarket KDSS skidplates require removal of the radiator brackets? From what I've read here in several threads, no TRD skid plates (or after-market skids, for that matter) have been installed onto a KDSS vehicle without said removal. Feel free to enlighten me, as I won't be able to look myself until tomorrow morning.

Anyone who has actually done this to their KDSS Trail please feel free to chime in.

Now that I think about it, if you are referring to the black bracket that I asked a prior question about, based upon reading the install instructions I don't think [MENTION=94314]divejoe[/MENTION]'s question was about that bracket, but about the radiator support bracing. I could be wrong.

That being said, after taking a good look at that black bracket compared to the OEM plate's analogous part, it appears that it is designed to channel air back toward something from the skidplate vent channels (in addition to providing the spacing between the frame). I could tell you what that 'something' is tomorrow.
