Make sure it clears as much or more than the stock skid.
[MENTION=176608]Xhado[/MENTION] How do i make sure of that? to me logically if the wheels are off the ground and the KDSS bar doesnt come close to the skid than its all clear but am I novice to this? yes. So id like a bit more clarification in terms of the KDSS bar movement when offroading.

ill check with my local toyota parts dept that i frequently deal with tomorrow to see if they have an option for the trd skid plate thats made for kdss available.
i purchased the skid plate last week without asking. if they happen to have one available, ill just exchange the one i already bought.

It's been done, there is no KDSS version. Just cut it.
I thought that Toyota is offering the 'TRD Enhancement Package' or something like that now for 2018+ so there technically should be one in the supply chain now for KDSS equipped models? Looks like you can select that package with the KDSS option selected so see what they say ?

My local dealer just tried to install a Trd plate on a kdss truck and said it would not fit and they had no other options except to sell me the part as a used part for my non kdss truck. The dealers are clueless, he said it will not fit your sr5 because of the small plastic splash guard under the bumper. These forums are way more informative than the dealers. I said can I have it for 225 and I take the risk

People were excited about this months ago when announced, but I'm pretty sure your suggested hoop has been jumped through. If you try to add those selected packages (i.e. TRD Enhancement + KDSS), it won't let you. At least per previous reports.

Potential issue with removing support brackets
So after purchasing the skid plate and observing underneath the vehicle looking at these support brackets, would anyone be worried about using the recovery hooks without these brackets? Because it seems that these brackets tie the radiator support section and the main frame section together. Without the brackets it seems using the recovery hooks could create a lot of damage. This May not be an issue but just something I observed and maybe one of you would have some feedback. Thanks

Those aren't "recovery hooks" they're for tying down the vehicle in transit.

It should not be a problem. The heavy skid plate replaces the structure of the bars.
And they're just fine to use as recovery hoops. They're obviously designed for that function regardless of what they're called. I've posted a basic calculation of the tearout strength somewhere on here. They're more than strong enough.

I have the diff drop installed as well but got the skid on no problem. Thanks to the guys that posted the original templates and PDF. Easy cuts with a coarse blade and some cutting oil. This forum is great for this kind of knowledge/experience sharing.

I'm still in search of the brackets that need to be removed to put the TRD skid on a kdss truck. I will compensate anyone willing to ship them or I'll trade my cut skid plate in perfect condition for them. Apparently I need these to mount my RCI skids
