TRD Pro Suspension or Toytec Ultimate

Hey All,

Had a good time reading the cup holder thread. Similar problem at our house I brought home a 2015 SR5 and the wife had a almost violent reaction to the grill. Took her by the Toyota place and she liked the Limited Grill... So we have a 2015 Limited.

So I figure I'll just make my own Limited Pro edition, kind of. My wheels will be here tomorrow, and I am going with the KO2's for tires. 265 or 275 not sure yet.

I just traded in my 2014 FJ Ultimate Edition which as near as I can figure has almost the same suspension as the TRD Pro. I liked the way it sat and the ride on the gravel washboard roads on the way to the river was perfect.

I see the TRD Pro suspension for $1599.00 or the Toytec Ultimate for about the same with the heavier rear springs. I'm not looking for a big lift, just a great suspension, and a nice level look.

Wouldn't mind staying TRD due to the different length front springs to keep it level side to side if it makes sense. Having the fronts adjustable with the Toytec should fix that as well I believe.

Just thought I'd throw that out there as you all have lots of opinions and advice, and even if it gets a little thick thats ok as well.

Other options are welcome. I am not super aggressive off roader, not a rock crawler. I do have some choice spots to fish that you want to have to get to, and the 4runner is cheaper than borrowing a helicopter from work..

My FJ took me everywhere I wanted to go. When I made the compromise with my wife of 23 yrs, she was cool with making it as capable as the FJ and still have her be comfortable driving it when needed.

This coming from someone who has a 3rd row seat in their 4Runner....I think about 99% of those who have 3rd row seats in the 4Runner, have them because their wives made them get it....

I know, I have a 3rd row as well....

nope, my choice....bought because of kids ,my wife has a Lexus configured to her liking I bought the 4runner according to my needs

Bilstein 6112 system is just like the pro suspension, but costs a lot less and has more height options. Youd love it on there as it will give you the lift you want while improving the ride.

you are comparing apples to oranges. $1500 for an OEM lift is dumb

Seriously, thanks for the constructive replies. I was asking because I have experience with one set up all ready. Curious about the other.

I may have to do a single, or married poll here one of these days. Probably tell us all a lot.

but like total auto said 6112s are the way to go, less than half of what the TURPro suspension runs.... and you can get more lift if wanted

Lots of internet tuff guys here that have no clue at all about others lives.
OP, I'm a Pro owner and love it but if I didn't have one I would copy what Saker has done. Looks awesome and like TotalAutomotive said it is very similar and has more adjustments. Good luck and post pics.
PS, I've put my health on the line with a man who's hand was on a collective and I've got to tell you helo pilots are usually some awesome characters to know and have a beer with.

Those are some nice machines there. Thank you for your service. You a pax or PIC?

We have a different mission, with 12 helicopters, from the 206 up to Hueys, doing Wildland fire. Best of all we do a bunch of aerial ignition. Any time you can go to work, set a few thousand acres on fire and not go to jail...Thats a good day.

You definitely can't go wrong with the setup I have. I am very happy with the way it drives on and off road. Middle Circlip setting on mine put it @ 2" lift up front. Stock springs in the rear with the 5160's.

I leaning that way. Hope to have the TRD wheels tomorrow. I went with Grey for my truck. Going to sell the 20's and use that for the suspension.

No Offense taken at all, always enjoy a bit of give and take. We may be using the Helitorch this weekend. I'll try and post a picture. do a youtube search for Helitorch Brim Aviation. Thats not our company but you will get the idea!

When spending roughly $400 a shock you might as well look into something rebuildable. Or just by regular Bilsteins. That TRD suspension is disposable (non-rebuildable) and expensive.

WHats a reasonable price to ask for a set of wheels and tires from the 4runner.

2015 Limited, Bridgestones 245/60/20's

Going to sell these and fund the suspension. Have them on Craigslist and in the classified for $1200 have a local guy on craigslist offer $800.

Not sure what is realistic.
