TRD Pro vs. Limited Suspension

I have 2016 Pro and still wondering about this as well. Can somebody measure a stock 2016 TRD Off-Road/Premium/SR5 from ground to the bottom of the wheel fenders front and rear?

we have both. A limited and a Pro. the limited visually looks closer to the ground due to body skirt and lower bumpers plus the tires are regular all season. On top of that all seats (especially the back ones) are actually lower to the 4R floor compared to the Pro ones. if you check the ground clearance between the Pro and the Limited, the Pro is taller. The Fox suspension/coils combination lifts it at least by 1.25inches in the front... on top of that the seats are higher compared to the Limited. I am 6.1 I actually have to stretch to get into the driver seat compared to the Limited - where both cars seats are to the max top height setting. so yes small things that add up to the higher ride in the Pro. The Off-Road tires also add to this experience of course (they are a bit taller compared to the stock all season tires i the limited)

Ride quality - nothing beats the Pro with Fox at stock height.
How does the stock Pro compare to the Limited from an on-road handling perspective? How does body roll around turns and nose dive under braking compare?

Not sure about the rear springs? My limited has Purple and Orange paint codes. I think all 4runners have the same rear springs. Anyone want to check paint codes on a Sr5/Trail or Pro?

Can you expand on this at all? How are you determining the rear on a TRD Por is lifted compared to other trims?

I did the measurement myself at the Toyota dealership yesterday and saw it with my OWN eyes. You can take a measurement tape to a Toyota dealership and measure TRD PRO vs other trims....you'll know

Interesting. What did you measure exactly? Ground to bottom of fender flares, or what?

I've always understood the front coilovers provided about 1" of extra height in the front, but nobody talks about the rears.

I measure from the fender flare to the center hub cap on the SR5, TRD Offroad and TRD PRO.
Consistently the TRD PRO appears to be 1" taller at the rear compare to other model trims.
Measuring from the ground is inaccurate because different tire sizes will affect the height.
Call and ask any Toyota parts/accessories department 80% of them told me TRD PRO is taller front AND rear and the rear spring are different part number.

this is not rocket science. I want to give accurate information out. To accurately measure any lift height you want to measure from the center cap hub of the wheel to the fender flare, measuring from the ground to the fender flare could be little inaccurate because different tire size will affect the height or even low air tire pressure will affect as well

That's exactly what I was driving at with my question, wanted to make sure the measurements were taken correctly so we can have an apples to apples comparison. Did you also measure a Limited trim to see how it stacks up?

I didn't measure the Limited version yesterday at my Toyota dealership, but I could safely assume that the Limited is shorter than TRD PRO for sure. I mean limited isn't even meant for offroading. The SR5 even TRD OFFROAD are 1" lower than the TRD PRO front and rear. I wouldn't doubt that the Limited are lower as well.

Can’t compare the Pro but I have a 4Runner with 2.5” shocks and a Limited.

The Limited is about as street-centric of a ride you can get out of the box which is what XREAS is about. It stays surprisingly flat though turns and is pretty well mannered. The ride tends to be a bit stiffer in comparison as well and feels like you can throw it around a bit more as well. Call it sporty if you want.

That said, my other 4Runner is an absolute pleasure to drive as well. It doesn’t stay as flat though turns but it’s really plush and I found that I actually prefer the drive because I don’t really care to drive these things like sports cars anyways. I really don’t mind an upgraded shocks like this even in the city because it feels great too. Still feels like I have plenty of control until you remove the sway bars then it drives like a boat.

If/when my XREAS goes bad and needs replacement, I will be going with a 2.5” Fox or King setup with a mild lift.

This is the most ridiculous statement I have heard about the Limited all year. Well done.

While there are differences in the factory trims, all the models can hold their own just fine off-road.

ground clearance matters depending on the of terrain you are on. lower limited doesn't make it any less capable compared to the other trims. you have a locker on the offroad/pro/venture trims so that helps in certain conditions but in most cases casual off-roading is just fine with 4Lo/4Hi/ATRAC combination. this is why i don't get why some people thing that the Limited is not capable of off-roading. all different trims are offered for a reason to meet peoples' different needs after all. SR5 is the only trims I have not owned so I have no experience with it.

anyways to answer your question, the body roll on the pro is slightly more compared to the off-road with KDSS. the nose dive upon breaking on the pro with Fox is definately more compared to the other trims but i don't know why that matters at all. i however love the fox ride... soft yet stiff when it should be

I'm debating between a '20 TRD pro (I've since sold my '16 GX 460) and a '20 TRD off road.
Loved KDSS on the GX, and I'll be putting a lot of miles on the road between Vegas and L.A. in addition to a decent amount of light off roading in Nevada, Utah, and CA.

I think the TRD off road with KDSS will feel a bit better on turns/cornering on road, but how does the pavement ride of the off road compare with the TRD pro? I keep hearing how amazing the pro rides on pavement thanks to the Fox shocks. If the Off Road is even close, that's probably what I'll go with so I get KDSS and save the $$$ for upgrades

I bought the Limited model for commuting and weekend light duty off-road. Great rigs for snow & skiing.

Very pleased, also enjoyed our 1998 limited and the 200k miles of pleasure it gave us.
