TRD Skid plates

Just had a question on the 5th gen TRD skid plates. I have a LE runner and want to get some skid plates, but are the TRD skid plates actually good plates or more just for the look? Thanks for your input.

If you just want some skid plates TRD will work. But if you want a full set of skids you can beat on long-term I'd go aftermarket.

That's what i was thinking. Just wasn't sure if the TRD's were legit or not.

I think they are better than you would expect. just remember aftermarket plates will add a good deal of weight to your ride, so if you are a legitimate mall crawler (like me) you may want to go with the TRD skids...

That's a good point; I'm looking for something in between because I want to do so pretty serious offroading with it, but will do a lot of trips on the highways too.

The TRD front engine skid plate is 1/4" aluminum, the same construction material as the aluminum skids from most aftermarket manufacturers. The rest of the skids (transfer case and gas tank) are the same as you'll have on your limited...unless they still use the 1/2 gas tank skid, then the TRD has the full gas skid but is made the same as your current LE one.

No such thing. People have fit it, but you have to cut and fit around the swaybar. Best bet is either to do that or buy one already cut that way from RCI, Budbuilt, Heftyfab, or other metal fabricator.

They don't make a OEM TRD Skid plate for T4R's with KDSS, but it can be done!
