tried out plastidip for the first time - what do you guys think?

i tried my first run with plastidip today. i think it came out pretty good! i ended plastidipping the badges as well as the rims. all in all, it took me about 4 1/2 hours. what do you guys think?

Coolest stuff ever ? If you don't like it take it back off ! Black looks really good on the driftwood !!

by the way, I see you used tire shine. I have heard from others that tire shine can remove plastidip. Not sure if it's a single brand or what. Just a heads up.

the tire shine I use is applied with a sponge. that way it doesn't get on the plastidip and as far how thick it is, it was a learning experience so that was just a byproduct of my inexperience with the product.

another thing is that bug & tar remover is like an eraser to this stuff

ok that's what I figured. I wanted a little bit of shine but since mine are dipped, I didn't want to ruin it.

I did real thin layers. Looks like I need to add a bit more as I didn't get quite a nice finish as you did. thicker layers just make it easier to remove.

You dont remove the badges, you mask off around them and the plasti dip will peel off your paint.

That looks good! Seems like everyone around here tries out Plasti-Dip sooner or later. It's great stuff. Don't mean to thread jack, but what percent tint do you have on your front windows, and are the rear windows factory? I want to match the fronts but am reading different opinions on best match.

Plastidip rocks. Holds up very well and mine is on the grille and hood, so it has taken a beating. Had the same coat on for almost a year now ...

Exactly. It's pretty easy. The hardest part for me was patience. I ended up with some bubbling in the rear badges because they were sprayed with the very last of one of the cans I had, and the mix wasn't right (I think), and then on top of that, I think I over sprayed them - but by then I was too tired to go back and clean them off and redo it again. I probably will in the future. The only badge I didn't black out was the one in the front. I figured since the grille is already black, if I blacked out the chrome toyota badge, it might just look like someone stole my emblem...
