True or False: stability control issues on lifted sr5 4x4

I am about to purchase a 2013 SR5 4x4 and the dealership has agreed to install bilstein 5100's front and rear and toytec 2" lift rear springs.
Salesman tells me today that his service manager has had problems in the past with the stability control on the 4 runners after installing the lift. I believe the salesman has no idea what he was talking about when he relayed uthe information because he was studdering and such.
That being said, I think they are full of sh*t and trying to get a bunch of money out of me the for installation fee.

The main question is have any of you guys heard of OR experienced any kind of stability control issues after lifting your 5th gen 4runners?

My unprofessional opinion on the time it should take to install this lift is 4 hours given the equipment that is available to them. I would accept 7 or 8 hours for lift, alignment,mounting and balancing of tires. I have done suspension work on trucks and jeeps with basic hand tools and I have a pretty good grasp on what it takes to do the job. I have the necessary tools to do it in my garage but would rather just let them do it unless they are out to screw me.
I'm almost positive I could knock out this lift in 8 hours with one extra set of hands.

Eric, I am talking from foggy memory here, but your dealer may have a valid concern, as least a small one. From memory, and do a search here to confirm what I am about to say, but I think SOME members had problems with the stability control after a lift or even larger tires, but it was or can be resolved very easily by a re-calibrations of those sensors. Again, try searching for more specific answers then bring those issues back to the dealer.....be safe.

For once a dealer who knows what they are talking about. I'm sure not everyone here has had the issue, but a good number of people have had to do the zero-point re-calibration of their VSC system after a lift (and I think even one or two who don't for some reason). They were up front with you on the issues they have seen and warning you of additional potential costs. Thumbs up for that at least.

While it is true that the lift COULD affect the stability control system . A zero point calibration is not that hard to do and takes 10-15 minutes tops with the TIS software and equipment that every dealer has.

Besides that ,from memory,only one SR5 /LE that I know of has had to do the ZPC and the vast majority with stability problems after a lift are KDSS equipped TE's that the sensors or KDSS ECU seem to be much more sensitive to changes.

+1 for zero point calibration.
I did Bilstein 5100/51560 and ome springs on all four corners, it took about 5 hours. I'd strongly suggest getting front springs as well, it will take care of the nose dive and you'll already have the whole thing apart to do the shocks.

While you're dealer is probably trying to get more money out of you, they have a rather valid point.

When you change the suspension geometry, tire diameter, or even characteristics of the tire (i.e. grippier ATs or MTs) it will screw with the TRAC, VSC, and ABS systems as they are calibrated for the stock measurements. In fact most modern day vehicle manufactures require you to re calibrate the systems after an alignment.

For the 4Runners, a simple Zero-Point Calibration will properly relearn the new stance of the vehicle and the modules are smart enough to mostly adjust for the rest.
