Trunk/Tail gate won't lock/unlock with remote

My trunk/tailgate does not lock or unlock with my remote. All the doors work fine. I just have to manually lock and unlock my trunk. Any ideas? I can hear the actuator working though. The keyless entry system does not appear to be OEM since the remote is not the OEM ones.

Any ideas?

I would say the actuator separated from the locking mechanism. take the plastic of the hatch and metal cover, shut the hatch, crawl in and hit the remote. you will see the actuator move and the lock connected to it. Should be easy to trace down.
