I made the mistake of leaving visible a 12mm ratcheting end wrench and 2 car wash tokens in my front console area. Dude went through the entire 1st and second row area but never even looked or touched the cargo area.
Installing a decent alarm system and hiding/locking everything down that you can has been a great deterrent fwiw.
Lift/tires/tint all help with outside viewing angle.
Get a dark or black blanket, with flat color and texture so as not to reflect light in the folds to put over anything laying back there. Even with the tonneau cover.
If you want to avoid modus operandi for smash and grab, then don't pique interest.
If you're worried about someone taking the time to drill, punch out, or pick the assembly, then you have other issues and need to find secured parking areas with surveillance and security.
