It's got some hairy spots, but there are a lot of alternate routes and some great scenery. Bring clippers if you don't want AZ pin striping. We turned around once we got a few miles past the pass (coming from Oracle) because my wifey likes the paint the way it is. One of these days I may plasti dip clear the whole car..

Oddly enough, I was outside of city limits(you can almost see the sign from the wash :), but they cited me for it anyways. I'll try to get it thrown out, but if diversion is an option, it's probably easier.

In more news.. Next day, after talking to the nice man in the uniform, I realized I hadn't aired down. Walked up to the truck, let out 10 seconds in each tire, put on crawl control and backed right out. That would have been nice to do earlier.
 
Let me know if you guys get a group together. I'm up in Sedona, but my college buddies are still down there. They are at Grant and Mountain. I head down a lot, would be nice to check the gap off the list.

I live down in Sahuarita. I have a 2002 with a 2 inch lift and sliders. Just hit up Gunsite Pass this morning. Its simple but fun and lots of good scenery.

Gunsite is a fun drive. Great views, and I love all the higher elevation growth once you get to the east side of the pass (aka trees).

You guys have your state trust land permits? Great.
Anywhere on state land you recommend?

I love following power line trails. Gasline Rd from Empire Ranch to Total Wreck is fun, and can continue north to the Gasline road that parallels i10 west and come out on old Sonoita hwy. Lots of diversity, rolling hills, steep climbs, washes, swiss cheese hills, the works!

I seem to not be getting notifications about this thread anymore. Hope I don't miss out on a grand expedition!
 
Don't know about you, but I use my Hunting license as my state trust land use permit. Just make sure to always have a .22 rifle in the truck and you are rabbit hunting... Rabbit are everywhere...

On another note, saw a very nicely equipped gen with wheels, bumper, snorkel, etc on Speedway today. Looked at me like I (Or my truck) was from another planet. I still have him the knod. Maybe he doesn't speak t4r 5.0 yet. .
 
Does it work? Yeah, I've been stopped before and just said, I'm on my way bunny hunting. Now that will work if you are by yourself or with another rig, but probably won't work if you're in a line with 15 other rigs running a trail.

In any case, I always have the .22 in the truck and if I'm out off-roading and I see a good spot for bunnies, I'll usually take the time to give it a whirl. Bunny stew is good stuff.

So the Pro version comes with the black bumper section? My wife's 14 TEP in white has that in silver.
Find any good wheeling down there? You can actually go down to continental then head east toward the mountains and there are lots of trails, hills, scenic and bouncy routes with mining trails scattered around for extra kicks. A lot of it you can do and still preserve that shiny look.
 
Tucson here too. West side, hit me up if yall need anything. I have 2 rigs. This is the new one. The other is yikes bad.

Many roads around here are on State Trust land, and you are suppose to have a recreation permit to be there. They are $15 or $20 for a year, and worth having. Catch is you have to mail in a form and check to get it, so it takes a week or so to actually receive it. There are also many places to go that don't cross Trust land, I'm just suggesting that in general it is good idea to have one if you plan to go out a lot, and you can't buy it online at the last minute.

Just a note, you can get a rec permit at the ranger station at Sabine canyon.
 
Thanks, the previous owner made the bumpers. Yeah I'm home most of the summer, let's try to meet up. It would be good to have other 4runners to look at and owners to bs with.
