so in the family we have a 3rd gen 4runner, a 2017 taco, subie imprezza,ford f250.

we are thinking of getting a tundra, as the ford f250 is not always available and we have to occasionally pull a boat...the taco can and has done it even today...but might be a push ( 22 foot inboard SJX jet boat )

the other day we looked at a 2003 tundra 4x4 limited access cab. 230k and about 60k since last timing belt. V8 automatic Super clean. drove real nice, priced well for up here. Owner says mostly hiway miles...but who knows he is 3rd owner hes had it for 5 years

Thoughts or ideas on the 1st gen tundras

They are pretty well bulletproof just like the 3rd Gens. The 1st Gen Tundra is a great value for a truck. I think the towing is still limited to around 5,000 lbs on the 4x4 model, but the V8 and longer wheelbase will make pulling the boat easier than that Tacoma. 230k/17 = 13,000 miles a year, which is just around the average number miles of all drivers combined.
