Tundra owners what are your thoughts/issues

I wish thr 4Runner had the 5.7 in it

12 ltd 4runner owner thinking of trading in for 13 tundra 5.7 crewmax sr5. 4runner is great just would love that extra cargo room and extra power. Anyone else here did the jump any regrets? Advice? Thanks

I bought my wife the Sequoia Platinum with the 5.7. My 4Runner with the lift and Wheels gets about the same milage. The power difference is insane! That Sequoia which is pretty much the Tundra Platform is an Excellent Rig for Road Trippin and a run to Costco. But when I climb into my Trail that thing is so Nimble. The Sequoia is like riding a big bore and the 4Runner is like Riding a 125 2 Stroke! You just have to Scream it when you need it and it will give it to you. That's my only dissapointment with the 4R, it isn't a 5.7...:yo:

We have a 2000 Tundra TRD 4.7 4WD. It will turn 100K miles in a month or so. It's been a great truck with few problems. It averages 16MPG city/country.

We bought an SR5 4runner just before Xmas. We like it, but are still learning about it.

A friend has a 2013 Tundra 5.7 double cab. The bed is a joke - all of about 4'. He is getting 15MPG. He likes it. He traded in a 2011 Tundra on it for the bigger engine.

A dealer told me the 2014 Tundra Crewmax will come with an optional 6.5 foot bed as well in addition to the standard 5.5 foot. How would you like to parallel park that sucker.

Id love to parallel park it - my work truck is an F350 crew cab long box. Talk about a boat......

I own both , get T U R D supercharger then the fun begins. Love the ride and space of the Crew Max.

The Trail Edition is nice, but gutless as hell. Why they dropped the V8 is just retarded.

They dropped the 8 bc the 6 outperforms it, gets better mileage, and weighs less.

Great responses, mentioned by others gas millage dosnt seem to be that bad, Great get up and go, trd supercharger. After reading others post i'm sold.

With what to get trim level after doing some research its almost a push with trading in 12 4runner ltd for a 13 base 5.7 crewmax 4x4. Was looking at the rock warrior edition at msrp of 43k or sr5 at 39k-40k msrp is the rock warrior edition worth the extra 3k? Upgrades I plan to do with in first year of ownership would be lift and upgraded wheels and if money is available trd supercharger. I don't care for the leather or navi. Bang for the buck

They are offering 0% financing and 1,000 cash back. how much off MSRP would be a good starting point on a pick up truck?

mine was a TRD and i deleted all the TRD suspension before 5K mi.
BUT the package came with TOWpkg., lower gearing, backup camera, parking sensors, nicer wheels for the interim, upgraded interior incl. steering wheel controls/bluetooth, etc... way worth it in the long run. And hindsight i should have popped the extra 5k for the limited just for the sunroof.

Have you actually priced out the supercharger cost? It's insane. Literally insane. Like 7g installed. Holy hell on a stick... That's a lot of gas money. Or a lot lower payment. Or two ar15s in today's market.

Rock warrior is essentially painted bumpers and wheels..? If your doing a lift and are going I swap wheels just get the sr5. Hell I have a set of rock warrior wheels I will sell ya cheap!

Hahaha I bought my 2 AR's and AK's years ago so the money i saved not buying them now at insanly high prices. Makes the supercharger not bad at 6500-7k dealer installed with factory warranty. Lol

I get 13 mpg in town on regular gas from Costco on the TE, I get 12 mpg on Costco gas with the CM that is supercharged which one gives me more grins for 1 mpg less.

Then the old V8 Runner must have been really gutless is this motor out performs it.

I guess I better pack up and leave this site lol I will miss you guys.

For the 2009 4th Gen:
The 1GR (4.0 V6) made 236@5200 hp and 266@4000 lb-ft
The 2UZ (4.7 V8) made 260@5600 hp and 306@3400 lb-ft

For a 2013 5th Gen:
The 1GR (4.0 V6) makes 270@5600 hp and 278@4400 lb-ft
The 1UR (4.6 V8) makes 310@5600 hp and 327@3400 lb-ft (used in Tundra/Seq.)

The V8 makes ~15% more power/torque than the V6.

You didn't read Hellamatic's post. He said "outperforms", "better mileage", and "weighs less" - all of which are true. He did not say anything about hp/trq, about which you are probably right, but that was not his statement.

What is the meaning of "outperforms"? The ability to accelerate faster and tow more? The V8 does both better than the V6.
