Tundra Question

So guys if got this right, with a 4WD TRD Tundra Coils y/y y/b, TRD 500's shocks and nothing else, will i get stiffer ride or it will be close to stock?? Im looking to maaaaay be get 1" from stock 2001 Limited

Here is a pic of the actual struts I bought. They are set on the top notch. I am aiming for 3" of lift. I will try and get them installed this weekend and see how everything goes. My diff drop, rear OME's and bilstein 5125 just came in the mail today. :bigok:

I didn't know that all tundra TRD springs were progressive but those pictured aren't what I have in mind of a true progressive spring. What I have in mind of a progressive rate spring is a spring with more tightly wound coils at the top.

Like those PP coils I sent you. Those are a true progressive coils as you know. By the way the shocks should have gotten there today. Actually they should have gotten there yesterday, but wheelers messed up when they put the address on the box the first time.

My tundra coils are yellow/red and blue/red. I confirmed with the seller twice that they came off of a 4x4 TRD edition, 06 I believe. And they came with the OEM bilsteins labeled with Bilstein/Toyota. As far as I know the Bilsteins only came stock on TRD editions, correct? So Im just wondering why my coils are coded differently. They gave around 2" of lift and ride great.

I have the same ones. I pulled them off of a 2005 TRD Access Cab. The ride is OK. Pretty balanced with my OME 890's.

Ok. Thats kinda what I was thinking. So maybe the y/y y/b coils come off of a full double cab while ours come off of an access cab? That should confirm for others looking for TRD coils that you can also get the ones we're running as theyre essentially the same as the y/y b/y.

Thanks, ill double check with a dealership, i think yellow/red and blue/red is a way to go if its TRD Access Cab thoe..

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that these are super desirable. I'm running the P-rated Nittos at 32 psi and the ride is OK at best. I think based on the reports from everyone that runs the y/y y/b coils, that they probably have the better setup. I'm honestly thinking about going to the ToyTec/Eibach springs on some 5100's to get a better ride and a little more height in the front.

Tundra Color Codes

does the y/y or y/b go on the driver side when installing?

Found this posting on another site, hope it helps. It was driving me mental, too.

These are the color codes for the Tundra 2000-2004 (at least) 1-Gen Access Cabs:

Stock 4X2 coils
- drivers: yellow-white
- passengers: blue-white

Stock 4X4 coils
- drivers: yellow-green
- passengers: blue-green

TRD 4X4 coils
- drivers: yellow-yellow
- passengers: blue-yellow

TRD 4X2 coils
-drivers: red-yellow
-passengers: purple-yellow
