Alright, what's the secret to these things?

I have had these wheels for only a couple of months and I now have 8 of these center caps, 5 of which are not usable due to the tabs being broken off.

Is there some special way to put them on? Whenever I press on them, the dang tabs just start popping off. I literally have one of mine stuck on with double sided tape, and 4 waiting to get thrown in the trash.


All that said: does anyone have any they would be willing to sell? dslkfhdlkhjkldh

No you are not the only one who breaks them, very common problem with these center caps.

I've looked and the best place to get oem is to watch eBay.

I talked with the owner of prestige wheel and he makes them out if his own mold but cannot make them with the Toyota logo in the middle due to copyright issues

You're not the only one who does this. I bought some Sequoia wheels and immediately broke 3 tabs on those stupid caps when I pulled them off the wheels. I did discover that the center caps from the stock 5 stars from the 4Runner will fit on the Sequoia wheels. The 4Runner caps have metal tabs that I have never broken. I'm going to do this as I plan to paint my Sequoia wheels.

I don't know the part #, but there are sets on ebay for $40 shipped. Most of the sets have paint chipping off of at least one of the caps. As far as a picture, I can try to get one this weekend. The wheels are at my dad's house waiting to be painted.

everytime i need balancing or wheel change, say good bye to at LEAST one cap...
all 4 of mines are hanging on by a limb... which thinking about it now is going to screw me over if i decide to powder coat...

Theres one tab that is skinnier than the rest, when installing the cap, make sure that's the last part that goes in.

I've definitely broken a ton, I have 8 as well.

Epoxy fixed most of them.

Do you know specifically which type of epoxy you used? I got some stuff at Home Depot and it just wouldn't take for some reason...

I was able to use some JB Weld to repair one... Just need to paint it now.

Loctite brand Epoxy mixer cups.

Here's a pic from when I used the same stuff to glue on the center logos.

You can see a lot of my clips just covered in epoxy. Epoxy also holds those metal rings from popping off.

I used to lose centercaps off road a lot because of broken clips. The epoxied clips have all been holding since my first try, which was 2 years ago. Haven't lost one since.

It doesnt look too bad, I've been doing it for over a year even though I have 3 good caps, I'm just a symmetry nut

Here's the 5-star center cap on the Sequoia wheel. The cap has been painted, but the wheels haven't yet. The spaces for the lugs don't line up exactly, but the clips don't break when I take cap off.
