My gas pedal lags a little bit on my 2005 4runner v8. ill press the pedal and there is a few second delay before the power kicks in. Was wondering if somebody knows if there is anything I can do to make it more responsive or if its an engine problem?

I also have a 05 v8, I also experience that it takes pushing the pedal down more to get some speed going. Mine only does it on cold days or when I first start the 4runner for the day. So my assumption is that it does it to heat the transmission up faster to operating temp.....

Mine does it on cold days and normally all the time not just when I first start it.

What's your mileage? Get some throttle body cleaner and clean the throttle body. Its really easy two 10mm to remove the top cover, a 10mm to loosing the intake pipe to the throttle body, use a rag and spraying cleaner on the rag, wipe it all down until its not black anymore, make sure you open the butterfly to get it all. Use maf cleaner to clean the mass airflow sensor, if you have 100k or more change your plugs, their due at 120k. You could do a fuel service/seafoam but that's a bit more complicated if you don't know what your doing. I would start with that. Toyota throttle bodies get real sticky if they aren't cleaned.
