Tune Up Time!

Alright, so I stopped by my local AutoZone today and picked me up some new plugs, wires...the works. Note that I plan on changing my plugs and wires every 15-20k anyways, also the plugs I was forwarded to were AC Delco Rapidfire platinum's.

Did I do well? errr, not so much? I figured I probably should of gotten some advice before hand on what is good but at any rate I can always return them and get whats better.

Just my personal preference, Im a big fan of NGK plugs.

But I say run them, then tell us how they went!

Well haha the sales rep told me that they should work just fine but as I come into AutoZone more and more I realize how little most of them know! I guess I'm hoping that someone with the same year/model of my vehicle can give me some good recommendations as to what is the best bang for your buck.

Although if I don't receive anything I'll just throw them in and do just that, let all you know on my success or failure, lol.

the ac delco will work fine as long as they have the same thread, the platinum plug just means it is a hotter, longer lasting plug than a standard copper so in theory you should get longer life and possibly a little better mileage with the platinum plug than with the standard copper. but yes most toyota guys will point you to an ngk plug as that is what is oem in them, and i work at autozone and have no idea honestly why he pointed you to a platinum plug unless you told him you wanted something a little better than stock because the computer tells you that original equipment is a copper plug

Yeah, a lot of people out there are not experts. Most customers know what they want.

Anyway.

Toyota uses NGK plugs, and for the same price I would stick with them. AC Delco are not bad plugs, but I'd go with the NGK Platinums. If you have not installed the plugs and have your receipt, you can exchange them up to 90 days.

Haha, yeah the only reason I was so eager to get a response is cause I wanted a heads up before AutoZone closed. I figure most of you don't sit here and give you life to the forum. On another note, I took the AC's back and got me some NGK VPower's and a new fuel filter.

Guess I'm squeezing in a late night tune up after I get outta my networking class (9:00 pm)

Yes, I just put NGK Platinums in my 4Runner from Autozone on Friday.

Bosch is good too, however I recommend NGK for Toyota as they would have been the original equipment.
