turn off alarm from inside vehicle?

My daughter's remote battery is dead in her 1998 4 runner with factory alarm.
How can she turn off the alarm after she opens the door with the key?

There are supposed to be key tricks that turn it off... The only thing I got to work was to reach under the steering wheel, left side, and unplug the big thing that says "security module". Unplug the battery while you do this so you don't have to listen to the alarm.

Open the door manually, step on the brake and turn the key in the ignition. This will stop the alarm and allow the truck to start. Just had the same issue.

im surprised unlocking the door with the key doesn't turn the alarm off.
maybe try unlocking it 2x.

I only have one key fob and all I domes turn the ignition to the on position twice and that shuts off the alarm.

Assuming it is a factory alarm:

Completely cycle the key all the way back to start (without turning over engine) THREE times.

Should disable the alarm on the second try.
