Turn off daytime running lights

I’ve been trying to figure this out forever! The parking brake thing works while sitting idle.

I ran into this exact issue today. I attempted to switch to a non-DRL turn signal relay, but the current plug does not fit.

Is there a harness that can be purchased to make this work?

Yes. Part # 82241-35010

While I was in the middle of making my own adapter harness I emailed Conicelli Toyota and was given the part #. Worked perfectly on my '03 that originally had DRLs,but I used my DIY harness because I added a secondary connector for future upgrades (side/blind spot cameras and/or cornering lights). I ended up installing the Toyota harness in a GX470, the hazards wouldn't work at first, turned out the hazard switch wire had to be moved one pin over.

I'm using this smart flasher on both trucks plus my 00 Tundra https://www.diodedynamics.com/smarttap-cf18-led-flasher-module.html ...didn't pay full price, ordered them during Black Friday and Memorial Day sales

Do they make a version of that relay for those that have, or want to keep the DRLs? My ‘04 has the ‘06 headlights and the DRLs and I’d very much like to keep them as they look cool with my black truck, but I’d like to convert to LEDs because the regular bulbs are so hot that they make burn marks on the sockets and I’ve already replaced them once.

They don't, but you could still run DRLs if you don't mind wiring in a relay and changing the bulb sockets.

Ok thanks. That probably wouldn’t be a huge deal. I’m planning to add the old bumper lights back in as nighttime markers anyway since those sockets and wires were relocated to the ‘06 headlights when the previous owner did the conversion. Problem is now they collect water because the holes were left open in back, and I’m pretty sure I’ll fail inspection in this state for having non working lights on the vehicle.

This works on a 2006 V6.
To turn off running lights, set parking brake, turn off car, start car.

I believe this info is in the operators manual.

This didnt work on my 07 V6, and didnt see anything in the owners manual

I will admit i was going off my fairly bad memory.:yield:
I did this sometime around 2006-2008.
Had the DRL off for a few years before that fateful day the nutty little deer rearranged my front bumper. Then the Shrockworks and everything else happened.

This forum, i swear if you like your money stay away from here.

Any how...
The only thing i could find in the manual actually states, take it to the dealer to disable.
I would guess that's Techstream? The dealer uses. I know nothing about but there is chatter here on the forum about it.

Only other thing i could think of is maybe i saw it on toyota120.

There are 4runners with and without auto headlights and 2006 the DRL was moved from the bumper to the headlight... so there are a few different versions 4runing around.

Here is the only thing i could find in the book.
sorry not much help.

AWESOME, thank for the picture, I couldnt find anything in owners manual. and this morning I did stop by the closest dealer (mountains states toyota) they said NO, we wont do that. Thanks again I will try this.

ebay and the techstream vci cable, it works, might just have to use the older version of the software, some seller will offer 2 software version, you can set the drl to not come on, change the locks and light function. some other stuff including programming new keys and tpms.
