Great truck, just swapped out for another one because I wanted some different options.
Some parting "in my opinion" thoughts on my SR5...great truck!
- The suspension didn't bother me nearly as much as internet forum chatter led me to believe. It was quite comfortable imo.
- The truck was outstanding in the snow, even in 2WD. I'm in Western New York with notorious winters.
I've read some criticism in past threads that a part-time 4Runner in 2WD isn't good in winter driving because of the "light" rear end. This isn't true at all (imo) and *nothing* like my old Tacoma would handle in 2WD mode during winter driving even when I had sandbags in the bed.
During winter storms when I engaged 4WD it was a beast in the snow even with stock tires. Absolutely no complaints about the part time system in the winter season here.
- I liked the Entune system, but mainly to provide a screen for the backup camera and didn't think the navigation was bad at all. The backup camera in the rearview mirror is quite small my eyes aren't the best. For a stock stereo I've definitely heard worse.
- I liked the transfer case lever! Reminded me of my old Tacoma. I wasn't terribly suprised that Toyota switched to a knob for the '13 though.
- The "sport trimmed" cloth seats were great, no complaints. Great in the winter, as they were temperature neutral and didn't "shock" me with cold when I first got in the vehicle.
So my SR5 had the 3rd row option, and to be honest when I was at the dealership I was so smitten with the truck I didn't pay too much attention
to the fact that the 3rd row raises the floor of the cargo area quite a bit.
Being a guitarist sometimes I need to roll bulky 4x12 cabinets in the cargo area and with the 3rd row there wasn't enough vertical space I would have to tip them on their side.
I mentioned this to my salesman who's also a player and he said that they had some new Limited's coming in fresh off the boat that didn't even have a sliding rear cargo tray just a flat floor!
I was surprised by this as I had assumed most limited's would at a minimum come with the sliding rear tray, so I asked him what my truck would get in trade and it was worth more than I thought we worked out the numbers and I swapped into a Limited with a completely flat cargo floor.
I should mention that 99.9% of the time I drive alone, I just didn't realize the extent the 3rd row raised the floor and even the cargo tray to a lesser degree I can facepalm myself for that lol... :blabla:
I do have one gripe (and I'm sure more will surface at some point) about the limited though, and I've said it before in other threads. Bring back the multi-mode so I can choose 2WD please Toyota...just imo.
And if the '14 refresh includes a white Trail Edition I make no promises as to what I might do.... :jump:
