tweaked frame

any/all advice welcome.
had a girl take me out by running a stop sign. Hit me on the left front tire /fender area. the tire took the most of the impact and transferred the energy to tie rod ends and rack. inner tie rod is really bent but the worst is the frame cross member that the steering rack itself bolts to has slightly twisted. causing the left side of the rack to be higher then the right. what are my chances of getting this part of the frame fixed at a frame shop?

Sorry but had to bump. Desperate here. Anybody ever deal with a bent crossmember like this? So far one frame shop rejected me.
 
Honestly? You need to bring it to a professional shop that deals with bent frames. There are shops that have machines that can tell you exactly how bad it is and if it's fixable. I'm sure it is. But not without a machine or at least some knowledge!
 
My wife got T-Boned in the drivers door front wheel area. It bent the frame, bent the hub, bent the upper control arm and bent the upper control arm mount. In my case the fender and inner fender almost touched the exhaust manifold. Plus the tow hook from the vehicle broke the wheel and deposited itself inside the tire.

anything can be fixed, question is the cost. if your engine and tranny are good maybe find one with blown engine or bad tranny and do a swap? also depends on your level of skill and what you are willing to do yourself. What does the insurance say?
 
Insurance totaled me out and I got a check for more then I paid for the truck even with retaining the vehicle. I refuse to give up and buy another one. Might take it to another frame shop since the one it's at is being sketchy. I can purchase a brand new crossmember from Toyota for $6-700. Shop says the motor and trans have to come out to replace?? Does that seem right?
 
most shops wont do it unless its an insurance job due to the fact that it takes so much time and not worth pissing you off by quoting you so much. it will never drive the same unless you chop and re-weld a whole new piece in there. even after all the work it still wont be even close to 90% normal, best bet is to buy another t4 and transfer parts

Yes, you would need to remove the engine/trans/R&P. You would need to cut it out and then weld in the new one. It would be a big job, definitely not worth the money for any insurance company or anyone else. I understand you wanting to keep the truck but you will never see any return on that investment. If you do it, it's because of sentimental feelings for the truck. The thing of it is, if you do this, I would still take it back to a frame shop to check your dimensions because it may shifted things around and you will never be able to align things or have the truck track straight. You might be better off (and cheaper) finding a used frame and transferring the body over if you want that particular truck.

As soon as I saw that frame I knew it would be a total. It's just not economically feasible to fix. Buy back your truck (should be less than $1000, closer to 500) buy another truck and you'll have a parts truck and you can transfer all the parts and mods (if any) over to your new truck. You can then part it out, make some money, and help out your fellow forum members and other T4R owners. I did this. Not gonna lie, it is a bit of a pain but probably no more of a pain then fixing that frame RIGHT. Good luck.

This is the right answer. Heck, it would be easier to buy a 2WD with a perfect body that was babied and do a 4WD swap using the old 'parts truck' than fix that frame.

yeah, starting to weigh in on your guys advice. going to look at the ever so elusive 99 limted (locked and with the differential t-case) has more miles but at least i have the old one with a good motor and trans to use if needed. Ill be posting parts here soon. thanks guys!
