Tweeters up in cargo area

It sounds like I blew these tweeters because they were crackling and stuff. I noticed this when getting stuff out of the back and had the radio fairly loud. Never noticed it before.

Is there a speaker that will fit right in there without any modding? I just want a good plug-n-play aftermarket speaker if one is available. Anyone replace these?

Do you have your sound mode set to "Surround" or off? It makes a big difference. If you have the surround option turned on in the headunit, it makes some pretty strange noises come out of the rear tweeters.

I'm not saying yours aren't blown - they might be. But first turn off the surround to double check. It might just be that. Took me a while to notice how weird the sound was coming out of those tweeters. I guess trying to simulate a "concert hall" environment or something...?

if they were blown by chance, go to partznet.com and search for them. They are cheap and cost around 6 bucks apiece (or like 9).

Do you have the ASL (or whatever its called, the on/off option after the surround choice on the stereo). When its on the back speakers seem to crackle a lot, when off they stop. That was how it was for me at least.

Thanks guys! That is really weird. I had just turned on the surround a little while before I noticed this happening. I guess that is the cause but I will double check.

Oh and I didn't realize how cheap the OEM speakers are. It sounds like it won't be a big deal money wise to replace them.
