Two new tools that are awesome

I got a couple new tools that are great.

First is the Milwaukee M18 fuel mid torque 1/2" impact (600 ft/lb). I have the gigantic one also which is great but it's just too big for suspension/steering work. The mid torque one has more than enough power to blast 95% of the bolts off. If I could only own one, I'd go for the mid torque model.

The second tool is the gear wrench ball joint/tie rod tool. I've used other tie rod/ball joint tools but this one wins by a landslide. Super easy to use and doesn't wreck the boot.

I had a outside tie rod end that the boot rotted away, like completely gone. I've been lazy and left it for longer than I should. I noticed i started getting some play in the steering and upon inspection, the tie rod end had play in it.

Installed the new OEM outside tie rod end with the new tools, it was a piece of cake even with everything being rusted to hell.

This wasn't a new tool but one that I think is mandatory to own if you live in the rust belt.

The lock nut on the OTRE was seized on... Until I nuked it with the torch until it was glowing. Came right off after that.

Good tools for sure. If you have a compressor you can get an air compact mid-torque impact for 1/3 the price but of course then there's the hose to deal with.

One of my favorite tools is the 35 ft lb Milwaukee E-Rachet. There's one that's brushless and 50 ft lb but I like the 35 ft lb better. It will snug up smaller bolts and nuts right to where I would normally do it by hand. I had been using an air rachet but again; there's that hose to contend with and fast jobs are so much better with the e-rachet. It's easier to get into tight spots too just like a compact impact gun.

I keep hoping to see a hot axe like the one pictured in 'thegipper's' post come up for sale used but in good shape but I guess those who have them like to hang on to them.

I have the m12 1/2” impact from Milwaukee and the m12 ratchet and those things save me so much time and effort definitely happy with my purchase. Also have the gear wrench separator and it’s nice but is only so so for the ball joints imo, honestly I kind of wish I would have gotten the puller that Timmy the toolman uses for balljoints/tie rods.

Very lucky. I have the Milwaukee 3/8 stubby. 250ft/lbs breakaway torque. With a 6.0 m12 battery it achieves it with ease.

The m12 ratchet is an awesome tool too, love mine.

The mid torque impact (bare tool) was 160 on Amazon.

I have one of those too but I like this style more. Haven't used it on a ball joint yet though.

Unfortunately no. One day I'm sure the smaller batteries will be able work on something like the impact gun or simply last longer. Different chargers too. The rachet uses a 12v battery and the impact an 18v. There is a stubby impact gun that does share the same battery but I doubt it has the torque the 18v does.

Years ago I got one of these. The cheap wheels broke off so I just put it in the house. Truthfully the cheaper small round seat rollers were more practical for me in the garage anyway.

For garage racing; both are nice though.
