txbonds 15 4Runner Trail Edition thread

Rear katzkins installed now. Few pics but will try to get some better ones over weekend with the real camera instead of my phone.

Finally got the trans temp to work on one of my runners

Would you mind sharing the programming setup, for this?

Thanks!

I used the second line of info under General Toyota here

Toyota/Lexus/Scion Specific : Linear Logic : Home of the ScanGauge
right on. the 2808 code ("Alternative", in ScanGauge parlance) is the tranny pan temp, and a more stable, reliable measure. the 3808 code is the torque converter temp, which fluctuates pretty dramatically, as one would expect.
itsdchz: the *fWT is the coolant temp, and as txbonds notes, and is available among the many pre-programmed code values. keep scrolling through until you find it.

Cool. Didn't realize that as I used the first one. Will relabel it and then add the alt code for tranny temp. Thanks for clarifying.

Thank you!

The TE is coming along nicely. Typical of your other builds. Just curious, but what happened to the 1997 build thread? I went to look at it for reference and it's gone. :pout:

I deleted it once it sold.

But had it restored so see link in my signature.

I tried the alternate code and it doesn't work on my truck. Only the one I mentioned which is the 3808 code works but it remains pretty steady so I'm not sure what fluctuations you are referring to.

i had trouble getting it to work on mine at first as well; never figured out why, exactly. in the end, what got it to work was entering it again in as an entirely new X-Gauge and then it worked perfectly.

see here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/110823-scanguage-ii-trans-temp-x-guage-2.html#post1703193

i can see a discernible difference between the temps reported by the torque converter and the temps from the pan. no reason it shouldn't work on your truck.

I've tried the alt code now 6 times in 3 different mem slots and still can't get it to work. Not sure why.

In looking at your link it looks like the first digits you entered are different than the scan gauge site so I need to try your codes

as an FYI to others.

If you look at the scanguage website it shows this for the alt code under TXD: 07E12182

On your link above the code for TXD is: 07E02182

When I changed the one digit from a 1 to a 0, it started working

Ran the truck up through the smokey mountains last weekend and noticed the large temp swing between the torque converter and transmission pan. At times I saw as much as 40 to 50 degree differences between them. Top temp on either only hit 185 degrees with the average being down around 140. Engine temp rocked steady at 184 though.

I'm hopeful that starting Friday I can start to tackle the radflo install and my rocker slider install. Will update with pictures if I do. Any install tips appreciated.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Looking good so far. Sub'd as I want to see the truck with the lift and bumpers on! I just brought my '15 Trail home this week and I'm already looking for ideas.

Thank you for this!! I tried getting the pan temp code to work at least a dozen times with no success. I just went out and changed that 1 to a 0 and I now have both temperatures working. I'm excited to use this next time we tow a trailer.

I'm assuming you meant torque convertor and not transfer case?

185 is still within reason, and 140 is on the low end of the typical desired operating range which is great for extending the life of the ATF.
