Tyrone, my new build

Took Tyrone up to Long Island, NY this morning. About 75 miles in, started missing like a MF'er, CEL came on, flashed a few times, then would stay steady, then flash again, etc, etc, etc.

Got to where I needed to be. Took care of my closing, turned around to go home.

The ride home SUCKED! Went 24 miles in 3 hours, I was ready to shoot myself. However, Tyrone was running okay in traffic. Once we got rolling though and up to speed for a while, started missing again real bad. Pulled over, figured I'd look for anything obvious.

That's when I got surprise #2, there was coolant everywhere. F me! Temp gauge was okay, resevoir was still full, so I drove it home. Stopped at Advance Auto, scanned it, P0306.

Luckily, my plugs and wires arrived the other day. So after a 12 hour day I went out and changed the plugs, wires and PCV valve. Running like a champ again. Also noticed that the coolant was leaking from the radiator cap. So I bought a new cap. Good as new.

Now I'm going to drink, hang out with my Pitty and call it a night.
 
I think the moral of the story is really just to stay away from long island! Also the clutch on these are real light, I've driven though manhattan for 2 hours with no issues.

I agree with the clutch durability.

How scared were you when you saw coolant everywhere? Haha

After a ridiculously long day yesterday, I woke up at 5:45 this morning and was wide awake. So after a long walk with Hank, I went and washed all the NY nastiness off of Tyrone, cleaned the engine bay and then waxed him. Also started replaced the RF wheels speed sensor since I had an ABS light. Turns out it was actually just unplugged. (awesome) So now I have an extra Wheel Speed Sensor FS if anyone needs one.

After all that, I figured it was time for some pics:

Thanks, they sure are. Glad to hear it was nothing serious w/the truck. BTW, you should yank those chrome fender strips and never look back. It takes about 10 minutes and you'll be happy you did. If not, it only takes 10 more minutes to put them back on.
 
Thanks. I've been looking for the plastic SR5 flares but no luck.

Also, the mis is back. I'm thinking it's an injector because I'm still getting P0306. The injectors for my other one just happened to have come back from Witch Hunter today. So I might swap them into Tyrone, send these ones to WH and then use them for the green one.
 
I've been reading up on the CV threads and how a lot of folks tend to tear just after the lift is installed. Have you thought about replacing the boots while doing the lift or are you going to chance it?
I was thinking of replacing the inner boots with OEM ones when I install the lift. Hopefully since they are new, I can stretch them a bit and not have any issues.

gotcha. I diff drop came with my lift. I was going back and forth on the diff drop....was reading the thread about that possibly being an issue because the smaller bearing losing lubrication etc...

I plan on going off road only a few times a year, I can't imagine the diff drop will be that much of an issue for me.

Tyrone had surgery today. Dr. PitBullRescuer threw in new injectors (OEM's I just got back from Witch Hunter) and I decided to replace the valve cover gaskets while I was in there.

Yeah man. I was very pleasantly surprised when I pulled the valve covers. After seeing Singtoe's update on his I was really nervous.
 
So after all the things replaced on Tyrone, did you sell him for a loss or did you at least make a couple dollars for your new one?
 
I didn't replace much on Tyrone:

Flushed the cooling system
Replaced the Thermostat
Replaced plugs and wires
Replaced PCV valve
Replaced valve cover gaskets
Replaced the injectors
Installed Scion head unit

I wasn't into Tyrone for much money.
 
My car now.
Even drove it to work for the hell of it instead of taking the bike in...

Pulled the broken antenna out a bit, it extended a full foot, no static, just looks - well at least it's not a coat hanger right? Probably won't even bother fixing it since there are no reception issues.

Adjusted the clutch pedal so it doesn't grab 1 nanometer off the floor, feels perfect now.

Pretty sure you never looked in the glove box because ALL of the PO's receipts were there for clutch replacement, springs, coils, brakes. They even put a new head unit in back in March - guess right before they sold it, which explains why they didn't leave it.

Also dunno if all the tic tacs in the center console were yours or not - but I'm keeping them!
