What metal disk? The 4Runner has no protective flap that I can see. It's just a straight shot down the fill tube with a metal collar around the top.

I thought all cars had the flapper to prevent gas spill in a turnover ? Maybe the new gas caps handle that function.

I rented a Ford last week that had no gas cap - no it was not missing. Some new cars do not have them at all.
