ultra gauge what are your thoughts

Probably another year more than likely if they ever do.

I couldn't wait that long so I went ahead and got the one without it and to me just that one gauge (Transtemp) was not worth over $100 more.
I got mine for $54 when they were out of stock on them a few months back they gave an extra $5 off for the wait.

I know this is an old thread but just wanted to say I love my ultragauge. It is only $70 compared to the $170 for the scangauge and pretty much does everything the scangauge does minus the trans temp. Plus the ultragauge is super customizable you can show 8 readings at once and have it scroll through 7 pages automatically at time intervals you choose or manually change the page. This thing rocks and if you're debating buying one I definitely would!

UG and coolant temp

Hey guys, don't know if this thread is still active, but I just picked up a 98 Limited. And like my wife's 97 the coolant temp sensor is out. My question would be if the sensor is out, if I purchase the UG will it show me the temp? Also, how complicated is the install? I can build nearly anything, but I'm not much of a gear head/mechanic. Thanks in advance!

It depends on wether the sensor that is reading the temps is broken or if it is the gauge in the dash. If the sensor in the coolant is not working the ecu won't get a signal and you won't be able to read it through the ultraguage. If it is the dash gauge that is not working the ultraguage will read it through the diagnostic port. You can't really go wrong buying one because it will also read your codes and tell you what sensor is not working. Very easy to install.

Thanks ST Runner. I am nearly certain it's the sensor. I tried to replace it on my wife's when she had hers but couldn't find it and am not a super tight guy, but refuse to pay the dealership the several hundred dollars they want to change a $25 sensor. Do you happen to know where it's located? What do I need to remove off the engine to get to it? Thanks again for your help.

Don't think you can measure trans temps on pre 2000s via odb2. Would need a physical sending unit.

Why not use a Much less expensive solution like Torque or other variations out there? They only require an inexpensive blue tooth odb2 transmitter (about $20 or so) and the phone app (free or the $5 enhanced version)? Just a thought... :cowboy:
