this gauges awesome it reports all the thing the obd 2 tells you is this thing almost like a scangauge? and for this price i might just have to buy one UltraGauge Automotive Information Center and OBDII Scan Tool

yeah i heard of this from a friend on mine on a nissan forum, when to the website to check it out then when to all the toyota forums and read all the reviews, seems like a solid product for the low price, but no trans temp reading tho

Sweet! Finally glad someone in the 3rd gen section got one of these! I've been eyeing one for quite some time for the same reasons and everywhere seems to have good reviews on them. x2 on the bad marketing scheme stuff but still doesn't mean it is a bad product! Can't wait to see what you're thoughts are b/c if they're good I'll definitely be picking one up.

Someone mentioned in the scangauge thread that 96-98s don't have the transmission temp sensor so we wouldn't be missing anything by going with this option vs. scangauge II anyway.

I heard that the 97,98 4Runners don't have a trans temp sensor. Even with the Scangauge you would need to add the sensor somehow unless you have a 99-01 truck.

That is correct, our year trucks didn't have the sensor for AT temp so no matter what gauge you buy it won't read so you might as well buy the UG. It works great and I was thinking about buying a second one. This thing has everything I need, it gives you an accurate reading of distance til empty, avg. mpg - 58mph is the sweet spot - 26mpg highway.
The price is great for what you get, $100 cheaper than Scangauge and it looks better too. I use my cellphone holder to keep it in place, I'll take pics if anyone wants to see.

Being able to monitor my engine/coolant temp as well as having a dead accurate fuel gauge was worth the price alone. Now I know exactly how many mpg I get and knowing for certain how many miles I have left before going empty is great.
You can always try it out for 30 days and send it back if you don't like it - I have no complaints and would choose this over more expensive gauges again without question.

wow this thing seems pretty awesome. im definitely picking one of these up. this feature alone makes it a deal breaker for me (taken directly from the user's manual):
