Unknown Engine tick

Hello all,
About 1500 miles ago I did an oil change on my truck. During this oil change I also added injector cleaner. Nothing out of the ordinary just a regular oil change. But ever since that oil change my engine has had a tick. It ticks loud upon start up and mellows out very little once the engine has warmed up. I have tried to check codes and it gives me nothing. No cels no noticeable loss of power. No loss of gas mileage. No misfiring or anything of that sort. Just ticking. I did have to put it in the shop about a month ago to have some exhaust fixed.

The tick gets faster as the rpms pick up. Sounds about the same as when my #6 spark plug is miss firing. But that usually gives me a cel. Please help I am in desperate need to fix this before it destroys my engine. Thanks for any and all help!!

Have you checked your oil level since? A ticking noise is common if the oil level is low. As for the injector cleaner, I am not a fan of them since fuel is a natural cleaner anyways. In my mind, fuel injector cleaner is a gimmick.

As long as engine oil level is good, you probably changed the viscosity of the oil and you're just hearing the valves being a little nosier than before.

Oil level is good and has stayed good. All other fluids are good. Stayed with the same weight oil.

I'm not very familiar with the common noises and issues with the 3.0's but usually a "ticking" sound is a valve noise. I would suggest checking your valve lash and adjusting the valves as necessary. As long as your valves are good then your next big thing to worry about is your bottom end. If you want to dig into it more you can pull your oil pan and inspect your rod bearings, crank bearings and thrust bearings. If those are all good then I wouldn't think you have anything major to worry about.

Just out of curiosity, you sure the noise wasn't always there and you just noticed it because you were looking for odd things after you changed your oil? Either way, these older toyota motors are known for a little bit of valve chatter. If it were me, I would inspect the valve lash and bottom end bearings.

So I finally got the time to pull codes off my truck. It gave me the code for the oxygen sensor. Is it possible the fouled out o2 sensor could be throwing the engine of and causing the issue?
