If you head to the Outer Banks and want to stay further South, I recommend the NPS Campground in Frisco right off the Billy Mitchell Airport. One of my favorites down there and good rates - $20 per camp site, 2 vehicles and 6 people allowed per site. Driving on the beach is a blast down there however you do need a permit and they can be pricey for a single trip on the sand. There's plenty of beach access points for vehicles too so you have tons of choices. One of the coolest things is if you spend the night, you need to get a (free) permit to have a bonfire on the beach. Perfect way to end the day down there.

I've been basically anywhere from Frisco up through Nags Head as far as the Outer Banks go. It's a beautiful place, one of a kind, that you can never get bored of.

Nice! I'd like to camp down there, either in the back of the 4Runner or a tent maybe. The bonfire sounds awesome, I love being out at the beach at night. I'll definitely let you know if I plan to go up there. Do you go to school nearby?

I do tent camping mostly because I have too much stuff in the back of the 4Runner to sleep there.
Living in Virginia Beach, it's easy to make it down there for day/weekend trips. I also go to school at Old Dominion University which is right down the street so it's easy to escape. My best friend and surf buddy goes to UNCW so I also frequent there a bit as well.

Gotcha, I go to school down here in Alabama, but I'm headed up to Greenville, SC tomorrow for a co-op for the spring semester so I'll be a good bit closer. 7 hours or so I think from Greenville to the outer banks. Probably a little far for most people for a weekend trip, but I'm a little crazy haha.

Talk to me about your wind flairing. I have the wmw rack as well and have to get the noise to go away. I mocked a piece of cardboard that went from roof line to the top of the rack and to stopped all the noise, this weekend I planned on just installing a piece on the bottom like yours for less drag and try it out. Does yours cut all the noise out like you have it?

Got the new SWR meter in and tuned the CB. I'm at 1.4 on channels 1 and 40, with 1.1 on channel 19. I bought the CB used and it works perfectly, thanks [MENTION=63487]A.Wilson013[/MENTION]

I didn't want to cut anything on the dash to install, so I have the box sitting in the dash kinda under where the cigarette lighter is and have the connector cable ran out near the OBD port. I zip tied the CB connector to the scangauge wire that's plugged into the OBD actually. I like this set-up because I can pull the CB out and no one can see the radio on the inside of the truck.

I also got my Hi-Lift mounts delivered so I put them in. Very easy install and it's solid. I got a Jak-Jaw attachment for it as well and a handle isolator. Some pics of the install:

I also got a chance to wash, polish, and wax the 4Runner. I detailed the inside as well too.

While I was waxing it I had the mail lady stop and ask what type of wash and wax I use on it because it looks so good. She said she has a 14 Rubicon and didn't think my 15 year old truck could look so good haha. This is the first time I've really washed it more than a pay and spray since early August, the last time I washed it I didn't have my sliders, skids, rack, or lift. She looks a lot different now. Now some pictures of the shiny truck!

I even cleaned the door jams, but the grip tape things I have on here are impossible to clean without a toothbrush and way too much time.

Sure thing, it cut out all the wind noise I had. without it I had that terrible droning noise of the air moving over the upper bar. With this installed it's silent. Basically you just need to disturb the airflow over that upper bar to keep it quiet. I kept mine lower than the top of the rack because I think it looks better and I want to be able to add a single row light bar later on. I tried to do a cardboard model, but it didn't hold up well.

Mine is semi adjustable, the brackets are just 1 inch aluminum bent downwards with slots drilled into them on the fairing mount side allowing a little adjustment of the fairing. The center bracket pushes the fairing out a little further in the middle to give it a little curve. Make sure your fairing seals up against the roof or it'll vibrate like crazy. I had a 1 inch gap when I first tested mind and it vibrated like crazy at 25 mph before I even left the neighborhood.

I made mine with tinted lexan since lexan is supposed to be super strong and I wanted the tinted look to match my black truck. The only thing I still want to do with it is round the corners on it and put some 3M clear bra stuff under it to protect the paint front being rubbed through from the rubber seal on the bottom.

Thanks! I didn't clay it this time, paint still felt smooth. I normally use the meguiars clay that you can get at autozone or wherever, meguairs ultimate wax, and meguairs ultimate compound is what I used to polish it.

Thanks! haha. I actually got those sliders with the treadplates as a mistake in my order, but I'm glad it happened. They look great, are more functional as a step, and are different than the usual.

How far are you from Wilmington? I'll be headed there some weekend in February however there aren't as many beach accesses for vehicles and it doesn't have the same 'as remote' atmosphere as the Outer Banks. It's definitely worth the 7 hour weekend trip.

Thanks man, I try! I hate gaudy trucks that make it look like you're compensating for something. Although that isn't as much a problem with 4Runners as it is with Silverados and such.
