I'd like to eventually do a projector retrofit too but any time I have attempted those types of mods in the past, there were always a handful of little issues I had to constantly get worked out until I got things functioning correctly. Even then it seemed like my bulbs would burn out quicker. I'll probably still end up doing it at some point because I think it gives the front end a really good look too.
I had a lot of ballast issues with my only projector retrofit. I probably went through 5 pairs of ballasts before I got a set that worked. I had problems with the ignitors not lighting the bulbs the first time so I'd have to refire them multiple times which I think eventually did damage to one of the bulbs because it isn't as bright. TRS has probably sorted all the issues out by now, but I'm still not sold. I like the simplicity and reliability of halogens, but I want the light output of projectors because it's not even close.
I like the look too. I think I'd go chrome shrouds, leave the housings chrome, and get some of the clear glass corners and wrap them in amber film. It would give it a modern but still classic FJ80 look.

The SC fuzz are a strange group. I once was helping a friend's brother rebuild a 300zx TT in his driveway at 2am years back and suddenly it seemed as if the entire country po po team showed up in front of his house to question me about running away from them since some guy had given them the slip and he was wearing a white t-shirt; so was I at the time. I then pointed to my foot, showing them all my cast in a boot and said I wasn't very fast on foot at that moment. It took more than a moment for the situation to register, but then they left, somewhat miffed.
Glad you're liking the jack. Everything now is pretty much throw away so the longer warranty on the Daytona jack is nice. For a fraction of the snap on cost it'll do.

I had my own issues with another sheriff a couple months ago who wouldn't do anything to help me with a dog one of my neighbors had abandoned at the apartment complex. He was flat out rude. At one point he just turned around and went back to his car. Didn't say what he was doing or anything, and he had already irritated me. So I called his supervisor and complained about him, only to be told "He's not a very sociable guy." Why is he a sheriff then...

Hopefully Moab again in the spring next year, and then maybe an even longer/farther trip in early summer/late spring if things pan out just right.
