Here's the finished product of the hood if you're interested. Came out really good for $150 I think. The only flaws I see are there's a couple rock chips that you can see through the paint, there's a little mark in the valley/body line on the driver side of the hood, and there's a run or some sort of defect in the hood scoop. As long as the paint lasts awhile I'll be happy.
Here's the run on the hood scoop. This picture makes it look really bad where the scoop meets the metal hood part, it really isn't that bad there.

The only bad thing is the Supra is silver and I'm pretty sure silver is one of the hardest colors to match.

The slotted grille on the scoop is a nice touch. Is there a gouge in the scoop or is that an optical illusion?
The body shop that replaced my lift gate said matching faded factory paint is tough, especially since they have to first mix to match the factory code which is not as easy as it seems as there are variations in each paint vendors products. Or maybe they are full of it.

Thanks! You're one of the few who would actually notice the matching mesh in the hoodscoop to the grille. Where is the gouge you think you see? There's the little run/crack looking thing in the paint I posted a picture of, but other than that there's no gouges in the paint that I know of.
Yeah they're right about matching factory colors, especially on older vehicles. I'm sure as technology advances there is less and less variation in the paint from vendors, but I'm sure it exists. To get colors to match most body shops want to "blend" your panels into each other so that the color difference isn't noticeable, or as noticeable. For example if you paint the bumper on a car they usually want to blend the paint into the hood and the fenders so there isn't a hard line where it goes from the old paint to the new bumper paint. The good news is with black you don't really seem to have this problem, but I'm pretty sure most other colors you would have this problem.

On the close up of the scoop, right side, it looks like a gouge or a crack running from 10:00 to 4:00, but that may be the run you are referring to. It looked like a gouge to me that I would have wanted to bondo bc I am anal like that.

Oh yeah, that's the run thing I was talking about it. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it's not that bad. If it was a show truck mall crawler it would bother me, but it's got scratches and pin striping and there's more to come I'm sure. For $150 I'm happy. I'd like to get an orbital buffer and try polishing my paint sometime though.

That painter did a fantastic job! It's crazy that in one of the photos, you can read the tag hanging from the rear-view off of the hood. It makes me miss my black one now...I don't think anything can beat clean black paint!

Thanks! I noticed the same thing about the tag hanging in the windshield. Much better reflection than I was expecting. Black is a great color. Almost any car looks good with clean black paint.

Here's some pictures from a couple weeks ago when we were down in Florida. We stayed in the Point Washington State Forest. It was extremely convenient to the beach, maybe 20 minutes and 15 of them were dirt through the forest. The beaches there were clearer than any I've seen, even clearer than the others along the gulf coast. There was also bio-luminescent plankton in the water at the time. If you stirred up the sand near the water you would see all the plankton sparkling in the water, that was pretty neat.

The ones marked easy are mostly sandy dirt roads running through the forest. I let my girlfriend drive through most of the park when we went exploring around. I asked if she wanted to do one of the hard trails and she said no, so I drove. There was nothing hard about it. I didn't airdown, it was just a little deeper softer sand, but nothing to worry about. Nothing like the sand in Colorado...

It's a gated campsite, you get the code to the gate when you make your reservation. It wasn't clear if you can camp anywhere so I decided to just use the campsite. The first night we were the only ones there and the second night there were two other cars I believe.

Love the gulf too, fishing there is awesome. Caught my first swordfish 100+ miles offshore from Pensacola. Was kinda near the Petronas oil rigs but not close enough to be in sight. As much as I enjoy Florida, I like having 4 seasons.
Sharing your tool wealth with people beyond t4r & family, jk. I'm pissed for you man, hate that that happened.

Don't worry, I'll get him back somehow. This time he actually showed some degree of remorse. I don't think a continual onslaught of purple nurples will ease the pain of loss though, considering you know how much of a tool guy I am...:sadwave:

Didn't see any snakes. Saw a few lizards and some deer at night. Was hoping we'd see a bear, apparently they have them down there. We saw a bear in NC before and that was cool.
Glad we didn't see any snakes though, not a fan of them. I like to see wildlife, but not the snake kind personally.

Fishing in the Gulf is great. I've only been twice, but it's the most fun fishing I've ever had. The first time was with a friend's family friends friend's boat or something to that effect. I need a friend who lets me take their $750k boat out to keep it running for them while they're away... Second time was a chartered one which wasn't as much fun, but only because of having all the other people around you. I'd love to go again.
Sucks to hear about the jack. Hopefully you can get yourself another one and keep that one stored safely in your garage. Just goes to show people will steal anything they can get their hands on. Someone asked me the other day "Why do you have your tire locked? Do you think someone will actually steal it?" Yes, if they can get their hands on it they will.
Do you have to have some sort of special insurance rider for all your tools? I think you've probably got the biggest tool collection out of most anyone on the forum.

I do have a rider on my tools, foremost for replacement purposes after a hurricane due to "loss", whether from a flood or from someone else's hands. The total amount of coverage is at $90k.
My brother offered to replace it or give me the $200 but instead he, not me, will buy dad the injector spider for dad's 98 silverado and replace it. Not a fun job that I was going to have to tackle.
I am not crazy about snakes either.

Getting ready to do some maintenance over the next few weekends. Just ordered a set of these to help with pressing the ball joints out.
TOTAL CHAOS FABRICATION
I'm replacing with OEM ball joints. I have 237k miles on the original ones and the boots are leaking a little bit. I thought about just doing the boots, but I figure new joints probably aren't a bad idea. I also have a spare set of UCAs and new OEM Toyota bushings that I'm going to take by a machine shop and see how much they would charge to swap the bushings.
Also planning on doing coolant, rear diff, transfer case, and power steering fluids, in addition to engine oil and tire rotation.
I ordered a passenger side CB antenna mount and longer coax cable so I can finally reinstall the CB antenna and hook the radio back up. The mount just needs paint, hopefully that happens tomorrow and I can install this weekend and tune the antenna.
I'm also going to pick up a CV axle reboot kit and reboot one of my old ones so I always have a fresh spare with me instead of a spare that has torn boots.
And a little light reading I picked up for an upcoming trip. I've got a decent collection of these books going now...
