Update on Husky mats for 2013 T4R

I followed up with Husky to get an ETA on mats for 2013. Here's the reply:

Mike,

The tooling shop does have this pattern and we expect that it will be available to us early next week. We have about 2 days of prep to get the mold ready run so production would begin late next week—likely 01/16/13. I will go ahead and put the part numbers in our system and you could call and pre-order if you would like to do so (800-344-8759). I will make the parts live on the website toward the end of next week.

Last picture isn't from a 4Runner. I believe all Toyota's and Lexus vehicles got changed to those kind of twisting clips.
 
I wonder if the new clips will allow Toyota to remove the "check floor mat position" from the periodic maintenance schedule and drop the price of those service calls by about $20 bucks?
 
Here's an update to the update.

I finally got around to calling Husky based on the update from their engineering guy and tried to place an order. Fail.

The less than helpful customer service rep "Candy" (insert your own remark here), said something like "Uh, yeah. We had a few problems. We dont have anything to fit a 2013 4Runner. Probably wont for a while."

I pressed for a definition of 'a while' and she said "maybe a few weeks."

Anyone have any better luck with WeatherTech, Husky, Toyota....any other supplier?

I'm likely going to receive a lot a shit for this post but IMO Husky is inferior to Weathertech. I have had both and I was lured into buying Husky because of the savings. They're less expensive than Weathertech's in Canada. Within no time the edges on the Huskies started to fold in. Checked with friends and every one of them with Huskies had the same thing happening. My OCD could not handle the shitty look of these mats and I made the switch to Weathertech. Been rocking these in all of our vehicles for years in the harshest of weather and they're still like the day they came out of the box... Just dirtier.

Not trying to start a battle on what's better, but I wish someone told me this before I wasted my money.
 
Agree based on past experience as well. Wanted to get some protection before we get too deep into winter, and WeatherTech gave a now-similar "we'll get around to it sometime" answer on ETA for their product. Might just run some old leftovers or a generic Sam's Club set until one of them "gets around to it."

Also, does anyone know who the OEM might be for Toyota mats? Maybe there is another option.
 
I haven't had any issue with my Husky's and were going on 3 years including 3 hard winters. You should have returned yours if they were warping as something must have gone wrong.

On another note why not just get the 2011 model and lose the clip altogether? That hole just looks like a place for water to pass through to the carpet if you ask me. Both the Weathertec and Husky's are so form fitting they wouldn't go anywhere.

Wait, your are right! I had to remove retaining clips to install Husky floor liners since they do not have ANY holes for clips. I believe it was one of the the benefits and major difference comparing to weathertech mats.
Does anyone know if Huskies marketed for T4R 2012 model have holes to accommodate retaining clips?
 
For those citing past experiences concerning the Husky mats, how long ago was that? I ask as I haven't had any issues with the Huskies in my 2010 T4R. They fit as tight as day one after 30K. However, based on my positive experiences with the 4Runner, I ordered a set of Huskies for my Jeep Cherokee. Completely different experience there. The (much) older Huskies edges roll quite a bit and the mats annoyingly slide forward slightly on the carpet. This tells me that Husky seems to have stepped up their game with their recent products.
 
I like them new clips. Now, should I abandon all my mods, sell my truck, buy a new one, start moding again just for the new clips? Decisions. Decisions. :naughty:
 
Update on the updated update:

The tooling for the new parts was picked up today. We have to prep the tooling for its first production run – which will occur next week. We should begin shipping parts on/about the 25th of January.

The switch is turned on at HuskyLiners for 2013 4Runner

Steve Bower, their engineering manager, messaged me that they will run Weatherbeater product early next week and ship at end of week. Still had some trouble on the website (only the cargo liner shows up now), but was able to place order over the phone. Delivery expected Feb 6-7ish.

He also said they plan to develop and release their Xact Fit line for 4Runners later in the year.

Good example of follow up on his part....kept me informed all the way. Can't hardly recognize good customer service these days......nice to get a little.

I ended up purchasing both, but returned the Weathertech mats. The Weathertech's were great, and in my opinion, looked better than the Husky mats, but the Husky mats won hands down when it came to quality. One of my Weathertech mats had a badge upside down, which was odd. Also, the fit was a bit off whereas the Husky's were perfect. I have had no issues with the Husky's in the 7 months I have had them installed and they have had a lot of rough treatment and been in a lot of harsh weather. I pull them out, spray them down, and they are good as new.

You can't go wrong with either Husky or Weathertech - both are very high quality products. I liked the ruggedness and fit of the Husky better, so I stuck with them. I really liked the looks of the Weathertechs, though.

I have had my Huskys and they have never failed me. I take them out monthly to clean the interior of my truck and they have performed great. Snow, dirt, mud, two kids and still looking great.
 
It has been many years since I have had Husky liners. As previously noted by someone, they have likely stepped up their game which is great to see. I am biased to the look of the Weathertech's but I do have to admit that the badges did come off on the ones in my Accord. Nothing a little superglue couldn't fix.
I didn't even know until recently that my old man has been using Husky liners in his Tundra for months now and they look great still. Considering the Husky liners are a little less expensive (in Canada at least) they may be the better bang for your buck.
 
I ordered mine today for a 2013 Trail (that I don't own yet!!) with no problem. The people from Huskyliners looked in the system and it showed them as available.

She said they show that they'll be made this week and should ship early-mid next week.

Husky Weatherbeaters V.2013 have arrived; I have not

Husky shipment arrived at my home this morning. Alas, I am away for a couple of days of training, and 80 miles of Lake Effect whiteout conditions stand between me and those floor protectors. Oh well, it'll be the first chance to drive the TR4 under such conditions. Good chance to explore the capabilities of the truck.
 
I placed an order with Husky today...can't beat $10 shipping to Canada. Tried thru my local dealer...4 weeks to get them!!!
