This is the route I took 7-8 years ago with a pullapart 95 Deville Alt for $40 150k miles still rollin. If it chit's the bed I'll rebuild it, you can't go wrong with that setup

When my current alternator takes a dump I plan on getting the LCE alternator. Price is right and they specialize in Toyotas.

Scramble, you have deeeep pockets. Back when folks were looking for alternative alternators, some companys came out with higher amp rating stock size stator alternators. They didn't hold up under load like winching on a long pull and they were $400. I looked at the link, looks stock size to me. Is It? How has it performed for you with long pulls winching.

LOL, that was the cheapest of the "high end" alternators I found. $305 isn't that bad & there were other companys in the $400 to $500 range. That's a little too rich for my blood. It's a rebuild Denso so yes its stock size. I dont have a winch yet, but my headlights dont dim with the stereo cranked or pulse when the sub hits hard. I've had it for a year with no issues. Hopefully by the fall I'll have tested it in a water crossing. I'm on stock wiring with no issues but have all of the pieces for the Big 3 upgrade which I'll get done this summer.

How many watts are you pulling? I've got 2 amps. One 1500W mono powering my 10" sub and a 4 channel 1000W Hifonics Zeus powering four 6.5". With the stock alt and the system cranked it doesn't even come close to dimming the lights. I did upgrade the stock ground supply throughout the rig though. I can winch without issues. Don't get me wrong I like cool aftermarket parts but the stock alt is fine for my needs.

Those 250a Alts I doubt are 100% duty cycle like the Alts you see in a ambiance etc.

True that. I was running a stout sound system at the time, caps covered the lights thumping to the beat. When I winched 30-50' my Alt would be screaming (squealing) like a lil girl, get hot real quick. The Caddy Alt was the best option at the time, still think it is. $125 for a reman CS144 that's a lot of bang for the buck.

600w 6 Channel JL Audio amp, 4 Pioneer 3-ways & bridged 5 & 6 to a 12W1 JL Sub. Could have been that the OEM Alt was 16 years old and on its way out. I only replaced it because it failed. With my 4 PIAA's & a winch in the future I wanted another cool aftermarket part. I even painted it Blue to match my calipers. :heh:

That’s weird because I have a 3000 watt amp n an extra batter, in the back n I have bad dimming problems
Anyone else run this for 5yrs with no issues?

You can get 320 amp alternators custom made in the 3.4l alternator housing now days and the big 3 upgrade is defenitly a must for that upgrade they do have several size options also

I’m sorry but I’d never put a hotrodded factory Denso Alt on my rig that produces 4x the factory output. I’m sure it’s not 100% dutie cycle and there is no way they are going to fit bigger diodes into the bridge to allow for it without it being external.

Hey guys I have a question regarding updating your alternator and batteries. I bought some lithium titanate cells. They charge up to 16.9v and go down to 9v. I’m trying to get a 300 amp alternator that’s regulated at 15.5 volts. My only concern is frying something in my fuse block or frying my computer or something along those lines. Anybody know what the max voltage the fuse block, computer, stock electrical components can take? I know there are xs power step down voltage modules out there but they get pretty expensive and I heard they are not that reliable. I’m even open to getting rid of my stock lead battery and going full lithium titanate to start the car and run my accessories, stereo equipment etc. my main concern is not frying anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated
