Upper ball joint stud question after Daystar

I was reinstalliing the ball joint stud on the passenger side after a spacer lift. I put on the nut an noticed in just kept spinning on the stud. It was lined up fine to get the cotter pin in. But the drivers side ball joint stud nut tightened up firmly and didnt spin. Is this normal?

I assume you are talking about the UCA ball joint? If it is the TRE.. it should have a allen on the end to hold it.

Not normal. It should be torqued to 82 ft/lbs. You probably just have grease down in the spindle taper. Clean it out with a de-greaser of some sort and get it clean... then re-install. Hopefully you can still spin it back off.... if not use a double nut technique to hold it and not destroy the threads.

Based on recent threads... Here is a disclaimer LOL. It might be OK to run it like it is.... My experience is not the same as everyone in the world. The word "destory" is a strong word and should not be taken literally. The threads may be repairable if you clamp on to them directly....They will not explode.

You can also use a pry bar to help push down the UCA so the BJ seats in the steering knuckle. Just let the tip of the pry bar "bite" between the coils on the coilover. This should help hold the ball joint stud so you can properly torque it.

thanks, i tried the pry bar and still no dice. I then used a big vice grip that had furniture left felt on the teeth so I didnt chew the boots. Worked great
